Why We Like This Place
The history of Washington D.C. is so vast and rich it needs to be preserved in a building that does it justice. Fortunately, the Historical Society of Washington, D.C has chosen the former Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square, a 10,000-square-foot 1903 Beaux-Arts structure that manages to be venerable, beautiful, stylish and grand—all at the same time. If that weren’t enough, the Historical Society also morphs into a surprisingly dynamic wedding venue, whether you’re hosting a simple outdoor ceremony on the two-acre lawn or a dazzling bells-and-whistles reception in the Great Hall for up to 2,000 people.
