Why We Like This Place

  • It’s ideal for a wedding. Built in 1855 by master builder Abner Cook, this Greek Revival-style venue boasts a majestic façade graced with white pillars. The historic property has served as home to the state’s first school for the blind, a lieutenant governor and a hospital for Federal soldiers during Reconstruction.
  • Your outdoor ceremony or reception will be lovely in the day or evening, staged on the carefully manicured lawn. Guests will enjoy telling the time on the stone sundial, mingling on the cobblestoned patio and dining under a twinkle-lit tent.
  • There are also charming indoor options for a reception. The library and two parlors are elegantly appointed with period furniture and décor, and the meeting room is open and spacious.
