Why We Like This Place

Framed by the rugged Santa Susanna Mountains, the upscale Simi Valley community of Wood Ranch, located a stone’s throw from the Reagan Library, is prized for its quiet lifestyle, wide boulevards and manicured lawns. At its center lie the verdant greens of the exclusive Wood Ranch Golf Club and its striking contemporary clubhouse, so reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Masterfully marrying nature and architecture, the building’s exterior incorporates elements of Wright’s enduring designs, such as cast cement bricks, wood beams and strong, clean lines softened by feathery ferns and colorful blooms. Step under the porte-cochère and you’ll feel like you’re visiting a sleek, private lodge. That feeling is enhanced when a greeter welcomes your guests and directs them down the walkway to the left, which takes them to a scenic knoll for your ceremony. Shaded from the afternoon sun by a tall stand of trees and brightened by an ever-changing landscape of flowering plants, the site’s large lawn and gazebo overlook a glistening lake below.

Once vows have been exchanged, it’s time to move inside to the beautifully appointed clubhouse. The foyer’s cool slate floor and the enormous barrel-shaped skylight overhead set the tone for the Arts and Crafts touches throughout each room. The Main Lobby, where cocktails are served, makes generous use of luxury materials for an understated elegance: The slate and marble fireplace, for example, is adorned with a large metallic artwork and contributes a modern focal point to the room. Honey mahogany accents not only add richness to the space, but also mirror the warm wood of the grand piano. A massive chandelier hangs from the high ceiling and echoes the best of Craftsman style in burnished copper, which is picked up again in the room’s distinctive copper-and-glass-enclosed wine cellar to your right. The entire room is flooded with light filtering in from the Grand Ballroom, just beyond the tall silk drapes that separate the two spaces (but allow your guests a peek at what’s in store for them during the reception).

The Ballroom’s most arresting feature is its wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. Over 20 feet high, they provide a panorama of the golf course below, fringed by the mountains beyond it. For smaller groups, there’s the Lakeview Room to the left, which has an outdoor patio overlooking the gazebo area and lakes.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Gazebo Lawn holds up to 350 seated guests; the Ballroom up to 300 seated. EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The Club holds up to 300 seated or 400 standing guests indoors or outdoors.

Fees & Deposits

A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated event total. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date There are no separate rental fees, but food and beverage minimums will apply. Packages range $55–110/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
