Why We Like This Place

With its crowds, busy streets and hectic pace, Southern California often makes people forget just how physically beautiful a region it is. But the short drive up a terraced hillside to La Habra’s Westridge Golf Club can quickly remind them. From the front of the clubhouse, the view west takes in successive ridges, topped with leafy neighborhoods. The vista north reveals the uplands of La Habra Heights and the looming San Gabriel Mountains beyond.

Westridge, which opened in 1999, not only offers these splendid panoramas, but creates its own visual appeal through a sensitive blending of lawns, manmade lakes and distinctive architecture. The front entrance, mostly hidden behind hedges, plants and brilliant bird of paradise bushes, has the private feel of an exclusive Mediterranean villa. And, like all such semi-concealed buildings, the site only reveals its charms when you explore what lies beyond its stucco exterior.

The clubhouse is most photogenic on its north side: Here, a loggia formed by handsome arches opens out to a patio, a broad lawn and a view to two lakes. The larger lake, lined with reeds and nestled against a small rise, is bounded on its far side by a attractive wall of hand-trimmed stones. A smaller companion lake on the left, fed by a murmuring little waterfall, boasts resident ducks and an unobstructed view to the hills and mountains. This bucolic scene forms an irresistible backdrop for ceremonies, held in a delicate wedding gazebo painted as dazzlingly white as a bride’s dress.

Inside the clubhouse, 4,300 square feet of new space was recently added to the Westridge Room, the main banquet area. Thanks to the addition, Westridge is now able to host larger wedding parties and still maintain its reputation for providing a convivial atmosphere and good food. Divisible into two sections, the room is adorned with eight crystal chandeliers, dark wood wainscoting, wide wood trim on all windows and doors, and cream-colored walls. French doors lead out to the patio, and the room’s north-facing picture windows frame a view that extends from the bigger lake out toward the nearby hills and mountains. The newly expanded space also features a well-equipped dressing room for brides, as well as a separate room for grooms.

The spacious bar adjacent to the Westridge Room comes with the package. It has a fireplace, flanked by ornamental elephants, and plenty of tables where guests can sit and schmooze over cocktails. If they’d rather sip champagne in the fresh air, they simply walk through the large doors to the patio, where they’ll find comfortable seating under umbrellas and canopies.

Westridge can accommodate entertainers from DJs to big bands, and is flexible about how long they can play—parties here often run into the wee hours of morning. That flexibility extends to other areas: They permit outside caterers and suppliers, and welcome ethnic celebrations. Two key ingredients for a memorable wedding are a great location and an attentive staff. The Westridge Golf Club offers both, making it easy for you and your guests to have the best possible experience.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Lakeside ceremony area holds up to 500 seated guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The Westridge Room holds up to 200 seated guests, the Lakeside Room up to 280 seated. These spaces can be used together to seat up to 500 guests.

Fees & Deposits

A $1,000 deposit is required to reserve your date, and the balance is due 10 days prior to the event. Wedding packages range $40–75/person. Tax and a 20% service charge are additional. A $1,600 ceremony fee includes the location, chair rentals and a 1-hour rehearsal.
