Why We Like This Place
This charming Tuscan villa seems as though it was custom-made for a bride’s dreams: a knoll-top perch with views of mountains, vineyards and the Temecula Valley; a gorgeous ensemble of flower gardens; shady colonnades with climbing vines; original sculptures, wrought-iron sconces and candelabras; vibrant green grass, scarlet bougainvillea and the sweet scent of jasmine. Fountains seem to flow everywhere you look, and the air is musical with their soothing sounds.
The heart of the villa is its breathtaking interior courtyard. There are three ways to enter it, and each bride who comes here has her favorite one. The first is through a grand arch, a "window" that reveals this lovely gathering space, surrounded on three sides by the main house and two pavilions with tile-paved colonnades. In the courtyard center, an aisle bisecting a broad lawn leads to a white ceremonial pergola. Along one side of the lawn a line of ornamental trees shades long beds of flowers; at night the trees sparkle, thanks to garlands of tiny lights. A rock garden, pond and small waterfall sit next to the pergola, a delicate structure that brides often adorn with tulle and flowers. On the courtyard’s fourth side, three elegant filigreed steel arches stand against a wine country backdrop.
The second entrance is via a bar-equipped ballroom/reception room that opens onto the courtyard. And then there’s the rose garden on the villa’s west side, located at the end of a zigzagging, pepper tree-lined path. This is the third and possibly the most dramatic entrance, with its tall centerpiece fountain and a metal arch rising over an inviting curved stone bench. Beyond them unfolds a vista of rolling vineyards that extend miles to the base of the coastal mountains. At sundown, alpenglow often gilds the view.
After couples exchange vows under the arbor, guests are ushered through a morning glory-clad gate to a large terrace for refreshments, while the courtyard is being prepared for dinner. King and queen palms sprout all along the edges of this space, imparting a Mediterranean feel. A trellised colonnade protects a bar area that faces both vine-covered rises and the bold peaks of the San Bernardino Mountains. Adding even more spectacle to events here are the hot-air balloonists from a nearby field who often drift overhead, swapping cheers and greetings with partygoers.
Photographers love Villa de Amore for its varied backdrops: the rose garden, the flowered gate between the courtyard and east lawn, and the rock-lined pond and waterfall. So many photogenic settings!
The Villa’s posh changing rooms are sure to please. The bridal suite has a tile floor, four-poster queen bed, antiques, private restroom with shower, wood-trimmed fixtures and a full-length mirror. The groom’s room, accessed through two French doors, has a red felt pool table, an oak floor and a private restroom.
This beautiful facility has been designed to do one thing superbly: host weddings and other special events. Every bride who gazes around Villa de Amore on her day of days has a contented smile on her face, satisfied that she wouldn’t want to be any place but here.
