Why We Like This Place
The breathtaking alpine scenery of the Eastern Sierras makes an incomparable backdrop for a wedding, and the Westin Monache Resort perfectly showcases both the setting and your event. Mammoth Lakes’ only full-service, luxury hotel offers relaxed elegance and first-class amenities, from en suite fireplaces and in-room massages to gourmet dining and a seasoned staff to help you plan an unforgettable celebration. In short, everything you’d expect from a Westin—just taken to a higher elevation.
A true, all-seasons resort, this venue basks in nature’s spectacular display year-round. Whether you prefer a winter wonderland, golden aspens or early summer wildflowers, a stunning tableau awaits just outside your door. But you don’t have to leave the hotel to savor the area’s rustic beauty: Even the sleek two-story lobby, designed with slate floors, lots of natural wood, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the gorgeous landscape, brings the scenery inside.
Majestic vistas surround the ceremony site as well. You and your guests gather on the pool deck, which has been reserved exclusively for your party. You’ll exchange vows on a raised platform against a background of towering pines and quaking aspens, with high mountain peaks visible between the trees. Afterwards, if you want to linger a bit longer in the clean fresh air, serve cocktails and hors d’oeuvres poolside, too.
Many couples, however, choose to host their cocktail hour in the Gallery Art Room, the private dining room of the resort’s White-bark Restaurant. This intimate space displays the work of local photographers, who, like generations of photographers before them, have been inspired by this part of the Sierras and neighboring Yosemite. The photos, which are curated by the Mammoth Gallery, are impressive, and you never know—they may include images by the next Ansel Adams!
Dinner unfolds in the restaurant itself, a place that feels warm and cozy thanks to an abundance of reclaimed wood throughout and an open fire burning in the middle of the room. The cuisine, which will delight even the most discriminating “foodies” on your guest list, features a wide range of American fare with an emphasis on seasonal and regional ingredients. Following a fabulous meal, the Gallery Art Room with its private outdoor patio can double as an after-dinner lounge.
The nearby Redfir and Foxfir Banquet Rooms provide additional options for dining, dancing or both. With high ceilings and a neutral color palette, they allow you to create the ambiance that matches your vision.
The new local airport makes Mammoth easier than ever to reach, and odds are you and your guests will want to turn your event into a mini-vacation. Since the Westin is located within the lively Mammoth Village, shopping, dining and entertainment are only a short walk away….or you can simply board the picturesque gondola that departs from the back of the hotel and be whisked up the mountain where you can ski, hike, bike or just enjoy the ride.
