Why We Like This Place

Striking a perfect balance between modern architecture and natural beauty, UC Riverside’s Alumni & Visitors Center gives the Inland Empire a sleek, new venue for special events…and one more reason to love this dynamic University of California location.

Situated near the main entrance to the campus on a grass-covered slope, the center’s glass-clad building features a harmonious combination of clean angles and gentle curves. Wedding ceremonies unfold on the lower level Veranda, a sweeping garden/courtyard on the west side of the building. Here, a lush expanse of lawn sheltered by trees and white rose hedges provides a beautiful background as family and friends witness your walk down the aisle. After vows are exchanged, guests can mingle over cocktails on the Veranda, a patio shaded by a semi-circular portico. Adding an artistically organic touch to the surroundings is the center’s iconic Sycamore tree, whose gracefully spreading limbs served as inspiration for the center’s design.

If you prefer to have cocktails inside, just head up the walkway to the front of the building and enter the Foyer. Bright and airy, with soaring ceilings, brick floors and a curved glass wall, this contemporary space is like a crisp, fresh canvas, just waiting for you to add your unique personal flourishes.

The main reception takes place in the Redmond Dining Room, which features a soft, neutral color palette with creamy walls, black-and-tan carpet, and recessed lighting. Along one wall, a vibrant, carved marquetry mural makes a fantastic backdrop for your bar, buffet or cake-cutting ceremony. The entire room enjoys floor-to-ceiling vistas of the lovely Veranda. In fact, you can open the five glass doors and create an indoor-outdoor party, since the whole setting is yours to enjoy exclusively and both areas are wired for state-of-the-art sound.

Fees & Deposits

25% of the rental fee is due to confirm the event, and the final balance is due 3 business days prior to the event.  Rental fees for meeting rooms range from $35-$125/hour, depending upon space rented. The Alumni & Visitors Center wedding reception facility fee is $500 ($600 with dance floor) and includes banquet tables, chairs, facility setup and teardown, a 5-hour venue rental, a bridal dressing suite with private restroom and a groom’s ‘gathering’ room.

The outdoor wedding ceremony venue rental fee is $100 if booked with a catered reception. Your costs may increase depending upon your rental equipment needs, and final guest count. The center offers a wide range of rental options available for seating and backdrops (e.g. gazebos, floral décor and runners).

Meal service is provided by Citrus Grove Catering for meetings, workshops, conferences and special events. Wedding packages range $25– $65/person, depending on menu selection. Tax and service fees are additional.
