La Jolla Wedding Venue

Admit it, you know what you want: breathtaking ocean views, a relaxed and elegant ambiance, service fit for an A-lister and 4-star cuisine that’s a feast for your senses. Worried that you might be asking for too much? Don’t be—The Marine Room has it all!
This La Jolla Shores treasure sits right on one of the prettiest stretches of beach in San Diego. Consistently showered with superlatives like “most romantic,” “most scenic,” “best fine dining” and “overall favorite,” it’s been a celebration touchstone for decades, the place where VIPs, tourists and locals commemorate the special moments of their lives.
You enter through a sleek Mezzanine Lounge that seems to float above the open, airy dining room below. A dramatic staircase leads downstairs where the décor is timeless, like the interior of a great beach house that’s posh, yet comfortable. The color scheme is neutral with lots of cream and white, and the high-peaked ceiling is inset with skylights that bathe the space in natural light. From every corner, your eye is drawn to the amazing view just outside the windows: a vast tableau of white sand, craggy hills and the big blue Pacific. Boats, seagulls and kayakers provide an interesting show that’s reflected in the mirrored walls along the back of the restaurant. And as fabulous as tangerine sunsets over the horizon can be, stormy skies are just as awesome (the High Tide Dinners, where waves lap against the windows, are always quickly sold out).
For the ultimate Marine Room wedding experience, reserve the entire venue and go from ceremony and cocktails to dining and dancing. The restaurant can be configured into four separate sections, so it’s easy to create a wonderful flow throughout your event. This flexibility is also great if you just want to reserve one or two areas for a small reception, rehearsal dinner, or other more intimate gathering: The Seahorse Lounge affords total privacy, the South End is large enough to include a bar and lounge area, and the Terrace (an elevated indoor space) treats diners to a coastline panorama.
As mesmerizing as the vistas are, the food is equally compelling. Renowned Executive Chef Bernard Guillas and Chef de Cuisine Ron Oliver repeatedly earn kudos from critics, including a Four Diamond rating from AAA. Chef Bernard, who grew up in Brittany, France, says he was influenced by Monet and it shows in the French-inspired menu where flavors are layered subtly, like the colors in an impressionistic painting. The focus is on fresh, local ingredients with an affinity for seafood, but there are numerous beef, fowl and wild game selections as well. Plus, the presentations are edible art!—diners often whip out their phones to photograph the magnificently plated meals as they arrive. Completing your gustatory adventure is an impressive wine list that has won praise from Wine Spectator magazine, and service that’s both attentive and discreet.
After dinner, you can take a moonlit stroll along the beach and, like countless couples before you, make plans to come back here for all your future anniversary celebrations.
