Why We Like This Place
Look up the word “charming” in the dictionary and you might find a picture of the Stonehouse at Temecula Creek Inn because, surely, whoever first came up with the adjective had someplace just like this in mind.
Tucked away in a secluded section of the 350-acre property, this unique fairytale setting has historical ties to the hills around it. In the late 1800s, when most of the area was being quarried, this stone-and-granite building served as a resting house where quarry-men could eat their meals and take shelter from the sun within its cool walls. Over the years, the peak-roofed cottage took on many roles, from sculptor’s workshop to caretaker’s home, and today it’s found what may be its true calling: an unforgettable site for a romantic wedding.
Your guests are shuttled down the winding path to the Stonehouse, which is set on a large grassy clearing against a woodland backdrop and enclosed by split rail fencing. The building’s old wood shutters, little porch and neat border of colorful flowers give the scene an enchanted feel. Across the front lawn there’s a wooden footbridge that leads to a sylvan ceremony site where everyone awaits your arrival (by horse-drawn carriage, if you wish). You make your grand entrance over that same bridge and up the aisle to a bentwood arbor, exchanging vows beneath a canopy of oak trees strung with lights.
Cocktails are served on the side lawn to the left of the Stonehouse, where oak barrels used as tables add a nice wine country touch. Dinner follows on the main lawn, which provides a direct view of a distant fairway plus a sweet tableau of another wooden bridge and blooming hedges to the right. Create an indoor/outdoor event and take full advantage of the Stonehouse by adding a buffet or dessert bar inside. Later, turn the quaint interior, with its fireplace and raised cross-beam ceiling, into an after-hours lounge.
On the other side of the property, the Creekside Guest House offers another picturesque locale for a private, outdoor wedding. Ceremony, cocktails and dinner all unfold away from the golf course activity on a manicured lawn studded with trees. If you want a touch of drama, say “I do” in front of the multitiered rock waterfall on the center Plaza. Afterwards, two nearby banquet rooms can accommodate almost any size reception.
In addition to being a popular wedding location, this gated resort has plenty of other assets, including: a championship 27-hole golf course; more than 100 well-appointed guestrooms, each with its own balcony or terrace; and an upscale restaurant with an eclectic menu and views of the Santa Rosa Plateau. Temecula Creek Inn also makes a fabulous home base for visiting the numerous wineries and attractions of the Temecula Valley, so go ahead and extend your stay here—you’ll be so glad you did!
