Why We Like This Place

Nestled in the blonde rolling hills of Thousand Oaks, Sunset Hills Country Club is just outside Los Angeles but feels like it’s worlds away. The club is spread over 85 lush acres, whose gently rolling hills are dotted with majestic oaks, mature elms, and a wealth of other trees. In addition to a clubhouse and golf shop, the property features an 18-hole golf course and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Situated on three separate levels with interconnecting stairways, the two clubhouse buildings and the golf shop are arranged in a horseshoe around the sparkling pool. With their arched façades and red-tile roofs, these one-story stuccos reflect a contemporary melding of California and Spanish architecture.

Sunset Hills welcomes events of all kinds—weddings, New Year’s parties, golf tournaments—the gamut. If marriage is on your mind, a trio of sites is available for ceremonies. Couples who prefer the plush lawns of the golf course are invited to say their vows on the first fairway, just a short stroll from the clubhouse. Late in the day, this is also a very romantic spot as the sun sets behind the bride and groom while they exchange vows. If you’re planning a big wedding, then the best place to tie the knot is in a flat green valley surrounded by stately oaks that affords ample room for theater-style seating. More intimate ceremonies take place at the crest of a little hill beneath overarching alder branches.

After saying “I do” outdoors, bring your festivities inside the Sunset Hills Ballroom, located on the clubhouse’s upper level. This spacious, L-shaped venue comes with a parquet dance floor and features an arching, adobe-style brick fireplace. Wrought-iron chandeliers and sconces illuminate earth-tone walls adorned with Tuscan-style artwork, imparting a tasteful elegance. If your event calls for more space, a movable wall rolls easily aside, allowing the ballroom and the lounge to combine into a single large room overlooking the patio and pool.

Sunset Hills offers a variety of wedding packages, all of which can be customized. Their executive chef is happy to personalize your menu, and the on-site coordinator and catering manager will work with you and/or your wedding planner to choreograph your affair from start to finish.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The lawn area holds 200 seated guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Ballroom accommodates 200 seated with dance floor.

MEETING CAPACITY: The Grill on the Green Meeting Room holds 40 seated theater-style, the Ballroom 200 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated event total. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date. Luncheons start at $15/person, dinners at $25/person; alcohol, tax and a 20% service charge are additional. There is a $1000 charge for the ceremony package, which includes use of the outdoor space, a lattice arch, runner, white chairs, dressing rooms, complimentary beverage and setup/cleanup.

For business meetings, rates vary depending on the services required; call for details.
