Walt Disney loved Smoke Tree Ranch so much it became his home away from home. Since 1925, this exclusive 375-acre gated western-style resort in historic Palm Springs has been a favorite of celebrities, heads of state and anyone lucky enough to discover it—and savvy enough to spend time on its scenic grounds. If you’re looking for gold in the desert, you might as well stop right here.

Strangers to the area probably won’t find Smoke Tree Ranch, which accounts for the privacy that those who own and rent its handsome ranch-style houses and guest cottages enjoy. This versatile getaway is not only a unique choice for an elegant indoor/outdoor wedding, it’s also a great place for a dynamic corporate function, a relaxing retreat, or an exuberant family reunion. And while you’re at the ranch you’ll have your very own playground, including an Olympic-size pool, world-class tennis courts, a three-hole golf course, bowling green, and miles of trails for birding, hiking, jogging, and horseback riding.

Quail, squirrels, roadrunners and jackrabbits, peering from behind the barrel cactus, towering saguaro, and feathery smoke trees might note your progress along the private drive that leads into this captivating hideaway. You’ll park in the spacious lot near the old-style Ranch House, where guest registration, greetings and smaller meetings and gatherings take place. Its gracefully rustic interior is replete with a wood-beamed ceiling, stone floors and fireplaces, hand-carved chairs and suede-soft couches in rich chocolate browns.

Just a short walk away, the Kiva Room and Disney Hall offer poolside entertaining possibilities. The ocean blue-tiled Kiva Room, with its three walls of sliding glass windows and ample bar, is ideal for pre-dinner appetizers and passed hors d’oeuvres. An adjacent living room has a fireplace and a piano for even more socializing. Disney Hall, named after the celebrated animator, features spot lighting in its vaulted ceiling, sand-colored carpets, and an entire wall of windowed sliders that lead to patio and pool. Dine or dance inside, or allow your celebration to flow into the great outdoors.

The sun shines year-round in this desert oasis, so why not let the bright blue sky or the dusky night sky tent your event? There’s plenty of room for a band under the loggia or on the patio next to the pool. There’s even a children’s play area complete with treehouse close at hand. If your wedding dreams are cast in green, you might want to take over the entire three-hole golf course for your ceremony and, after a cocktail break, for a fabulous dinner al fresco. Imagine your guests on the perfect lawn framed by regal trees and a 360-degree surround of soaring mountain ranges.

Fees & Deposits

50% of the total event cost is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 30 days prior to the event. Site fees range $0–5,000 depending on the total guest count and rooms secured. Event catering starts at $55/person, including service charge. Tax and alcohol are additional.
