Midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara lies scenic Channel Islands Harbor, gateway to a necklace of wild atolls that double as marine sanctuaries. Sheltered by mile-long marinas on both sides, the harbor is a serene coastal enclave where both humans and wildlife frolic in the pleasant weather.

One of the best ways to savor this refreshing atmosphere is from the water; and if marrying is on your mind, then why not get hitched aboard the Scarlett Belle—a custom-built replica of a glamorous 19th-century river boat! The Belle is the dream-child of Michelle and Andy Volaski, proprietors of a popular local eatery, Andy’s Seafood. Michelle’s a born romantic, and Andy’s an avid angler and boater, so they created this wonderful bit of nautical nostalgia. Inspired by Mark Twain’s stories and Gone With The Wind, the Scarlett Belle evokes the leisurely river journeys of the legendary Mississippi paddlewheelers. Whether you decide to put your bridal party in period costumes for a themed event, or simply treat your guests to delightful scenery and hospitality, the Scarlett Belle experience promises to be an extraordinary one.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by the Captain and uniformed crew, who will escort them to the upper level of the double-decker steamwheeler. Covered walkarounds with gingerbread trim encircle both the decks and, as the cruise embarks, everyone gathers along the railing for a front- row seat to a breathtaking California sunset.

Meanwhile, you await your cue in your pretty Bride’s Room, located in the enclosed upper cabin (lined with view-filled windows) where the ceremony takes place. While the captain docks at tranquil Western Point, a grassy bank abloom with seasonal flowers, guests are seated for the ceremony.

Afterwards, champagne glasses are filled and hors d’oeuvres are passed from the bar and galley. The cruise resumes, and Nature entertains the passengers strolling the walkarounds: The tide splashes against a rocky cove where a snowy egret poses stock-still, like a statue of carved ivory. The cries of gulls wheeling overhead draw attention to a flock of brown pelicans, deftly soaring inches above the glistening waterway. Rows of sailboat masts stretch heavenward, and on the horizon, the dusky contours of the Channel Islands pop out against an opalescent background of sea and sky.

The salty breeze stirs appetites, and guests enter the carpeted ballroom on the lower deck for a formal reception. Arched multipaned windows all around capture the view, while a soaring picture window at the stern frames the red paddlewheel churning in the water. The ballroom is outfitted with classically elegant decor, including Chiavari chairs and chandeliers suspended from a nine-foot ceiling. Drinks are served from a built-in bar, and the ballroom is spacious enough to accommodate a DJ, as well as a dance floor in front of the picture window, so guests can boogie to the rhythm of the paddlewheel.

As stars pepper the night sky and the Harbor Lighthouse casts a spectral glow upon the water, the evening winds downyou and your loved ones feel exhilarated, thanks to your novel adventure and a truly memorable celebration.

Fees & Deposits

Your deposit will range $1500–3000 and will be applied towards your event balance. The deposit is required to reserve your date. Half the total is due 90 days prior and the balance is due 15 days prior to the event. Wedding packages start at $120/person and include ceremony, reception cruise, food, wedding cake, DJ, and florals.
