Why We Like This Place
When you enter Los Serranos Country Club’s impressive clubhouse, you may hear the three grand bells in its bell tower ring out the hours. The red-tile roof and adobe-like walls of the Mission-style tower and clubhouse are a reminder of the club’s history: It sits on 300 beautiful acres of what was once a Spanish land grant. During California’s pioneer days, the ranch that occupied these grounds served as a haven for travelers, and its time-honored tradition of taking care of visitors continues at Los Serranos today.
As expected, wedding couples are exceptionally well taken care of. When brides who’ve been married here are asked what they like best about Los Serranos, they consistently cite its flexibility and service. For example, while a lot of places have fixed time blocks for weddings, Los Serranos is fine with whatever time of day suits you. You can follow the Inland Empire custom of a late afternoon wedding, when the light and temperature are perfect, but if you’d rather tie the knot in the morning, midday or in the evening, no problem!
Catering is another area where the club is adaptable. Los Serranos’ culinary staff does an excellent job catering the hundreds of weddings and golf events that take place every year, but if you have a menu that requires special ethnic dishes, they’re happy to let you bring in an outside caterer. “Our willingness to accommodate different needs is based on a core rule,” says the course’s Events Director. “We’re here for the brides. This is their day and we will try to make it the best one possible.”
Flexibility also extends to this facility’s event spaces, which can handle almost any size group. The heart of Los Serranos’ clubhouse is the Montebello Ballroom. By itself it can accommodate up to 300 guests, but when you roll back the oak doors that connect it to the club’s restaurant, the two venues combined hold up to 550—with the bonus of a full-service bar at one end. Small party? The ballroom can be sectioned to create a comfortable space for 80 guests or less.
The Montebello Ballroom is bright and airy thanks to a high, coffered ceiling and three walls of glass that offer a lovely view of the room’s veranda, the ceremony garden, and the driving range. The courtyard-like garden is enclosed by the veranda on one side and a long, hedge-lined wall on the other. Guests are seated on the lawn in the center, facing a classic white gazebo. Palms, flowering plants, roses, and other greenery create a photogenic backdrop.
By the way, if your reception is very small, ask about hosting it on the ceremony garden’s veranda. On occasion, it’s possible to have exclusive use of that area for an al fresco party. Guests enjoy its fresh air, verdant landscaping, and the soothing sounds of a pair of fountains in the background.
The golf club dates back to 1925, and over the years it has become a seasoned event facility known for its attentiveness in serving the needs of brides and grooms. A $1,500 deposit is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 14 days prior to the event. The room rental fee starts at $500 and varies depending on the type of event and day and time rented. Reception packages start at $50/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
