Why We Like This Place

Those who know L’Auberge Del Mar love it; those who are discovering it for the first time become instant converts. Set among gardens on a bluff overlooking miles of pristine beach, sandy coves and crashing waves, this treasured seaside resort is not only a great getaway, it’s a wonderful place for a wedding.  

Ceremonies here are magical on the Pacific Terrace, an expansive rooftop patio with a sweeping view over the treetops down to the sea. During the day it’s caressed by sun-warmed breezes, and in the early evening it’s a perfect vantage point for watching the sun set. No wonder this spot was nominated by The California Guide Book as the best place to kiss in Southern California.

If you want to get married even closer to the ocean, opt for Seagrove Park. A private path leads from L’Auberge Del Mar to a grassy knoll at the water’s edge where you can say your vows. Torrey pines dot the grass, and the view extends from Oceanside down to La Jolla. You can also have your reception on the lawn (yes, L’Auberge will cater it), or host it back at the resort.  

L’Auberge’s indoor options may not have an ocean view, but each of the two main banquet rooms has its own terrace, refreshed by the sea air. The Platinum Ballroom is a classic site for your event. Contemporary crystal chandeliers sparkle overhead, while wall sconces create a soft glow. French doors open onto a lovely patio with a waterfall wall. The Emerald Ballroom has an adjacent patio that can be used for a small ceremony. 
 
After the wedding is over, stay for a seaside honeymoon. All of the guestrooms have terraces, many have ocean views, and a few have fireplaces. The Spa L’Auberge offers even more enticements: a full menu of soothing indulgences delivered in ten luxurious treatment rooms. For the ultimate in togetherness, there’s a private couple’s garden on the spa’s lush grounds, complete with a European soaking tub.

At Kitchen 1540, the hotel’s chic restaurant, the culinary team specializes in modern American cuisine. Using the freshest ingredients, they create an exciting dining experience whether you’re seated indoors or outside in a private cabana. The private dining room, whose glass walls display an extensive wine collection, is ideal for a rehearsal dinner or post-wedding brunch.

And if romance isn’t your strong suit, never fear. L’Auberge Del Mar has a team of on-site wedding planners who can help you plan your celebration with creative ideas like a private serenade, skywriting a message during sunset and hot-air ballooning with dinner.

Fees & Deposits

For weddings, a $5,000 deposit is required when the facility is booked. For events in the Seagrove Park, note that a permit is required and that amplified music is not allowed. Ceremony site fees are $3,500 for the Pacific Terrace and $4,500 for Seagrove Park, which include permits, tables, chairs, linens and a wireless microphone and public address system for your officiant. L’Auberge Del Mar can customize any menu. Packages begin at $123/person. À la carte meals are also available. Alcohol, tax and a 22% service charge are additional.
