Early South Bay developers designed La Venta Inn as an exclusive retreat to entertain prospective land buyers, and it occupies a prime spot on a hill overlooking the sweep of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Built in the 1920s, its Spanishstyle architecture is set off by a distinctive tower, red-tiled roofs and, in front, a courtyard with a bubbling fountain enclosed by a bougainvillea-covered arbor. At one time, La Venta Inn was used as a personal residence, and it has all the warmth and convenience of a private estate.
Inside, the rooms are spacious and airy, with wood floors and cream-colored walls that evoke vintage elegance and provide a neutral backdrop for decorations. The large main ballroom has lofty open-beamed ceilings, antique wrought-iron chandeliers and a handsome fireplace with a carved stone mantelpiece. French doors open out onto a Palos Verdes stone patio that spans the length of the house, commanding stunning views of the entire L.A. Basin and Santa Monica Bay below. Two steps lead down onto a broad semicircle of lawn surrounded by flowering shrubs and palm trees. A classic white gazebo stands at the lawn’s edge, with the sweep of the coastline as a dramatic backdrop. The developers chose this site well—it has a view that makes you want to stay here long after your celebration.
CEREMONY CAPACITY: La Venta Inn can accommodate up to 250 guests.
EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: La Venta Inn holds 250 seated or standing guests.
MEETING CAPACITY: The venue seats up to 125 theater-style.
For weddings: A $4,000 payment, which is applied toward the event total, is required to book the site. A second payment for half the estimated total is due 6 months prior to the event, and the balance and guaranteed guest count are due 9 days prior. The rental fee ranges $4,000–12,500 depending on the day of the week and time frame. During the off-season (November 1st–June 30th), it ranges $2,500–7,000. There’s an additional $2,250 charge for a ceremony. Catering pricing, which also includes exclusive use of the property, a personal event coordinator and complimentary parking, starts at $70/person for food and $16/person for beverages.
