Why We Like This Place
Why just look at a mountain when you can buy one…at least for a day! June Mountain, a majestic alpine setting more than 8,000 feet above sea level, not only comes with shimmering glacier lakes and the kind of “big sky” 360-degree views that take your breath away, it’s also an affordable venue that will be exclusively yours when you host your wedding here.*
This pristine, laid-back “sister” to Mammoth Mountain is a favorite with locals and ski aficionados alike for its relaxed, friendly atmosphere and soul-stirring connection to the natural splendor around it. But it’s not just popular in winter. From hiking and biking to fishing and boating, the mountain dazzles year-round, as does its changing tableau of snowcapped peaks, bursts of colorful wildflowers, and blazing golden aspens.
If “getting there is half the fun,” then your guests are in for something special. Once they arrive, they’ll board the chairlift for a picturesque, 10-minute ride that offers a spectacular peek at the varied landscape of the property’s 500 acres and the small, lakeside town in the valley below. (For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, other transportation to the top is available.) As they disembark, they’ll be greeted with refreshments before gathering on the Scenic Overlook, a large patio where ceremonies take place against unparalleled vistas of Carson Peak, Reverse Peak and the stunning Horsetail Falls in the distance.
With a view like that, you’re going to want a dramatic entrance and you’ll get one. As your guests look on with anticipation, your bridal party will step off the chairlift one by one, leaving the bride and her father on the final chair to walk down the aisle together. After exchanging vows, take a moment to linger and savor the grandeur of the incredible skies and the aquamarine hues of Gull, June and Mono Lakes, shining like gems on the valley floor. Then, while you pose for photos in front of this awe-inspiring backdrop, friends and family can head to the adjacent June Meadows Chalet to continue the celebration indoors.
Warmly inviting and casually comfortable, this mountain lodge has several spaces that can be used in any combination to accommodate the size and flow of your event. You may want to start with cocktails in the Great Room, featuring a high ceiling with open rafters, wood paneling and a wall of windows. A huge stone fireplace dominates one end and a nearby wooden staircase leads to a mezzanine that can be used as a lounge area. Buffet dinners are often enjoyed in the View Room, which runs the length of the building and is literally lined with windows that frame the rustic beauty outside. Then it’s dancing in the Main Room, where you can also show home movies on the dropdown screens. Or, move the music to the Chalet’s Sundeck for a romantic dance under the stars, while the village lights twinkle below.
When the party inevitably draws to a close, there’s still one more mountain high—that exhilarating ride (or drive) back down. However, many of your nearest and dearest won’t be ready to go home quite yet, so let June Mountain Vacation’s staff arrange a few extra days of accommodations and activities for your guests, turning your big day into a destination getaway.
*Exclusivity applies only to non-winter weddings from April to December.
