Why We Like This Place
What people love most about Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is the beauty of its 26 landscaped acres. The lush plantings, seasonal flowers and abundant palm trees make even a walk around the grounds a profoundly pleasurable experience. If you’re planning a wedding here, you’ll find that nature is part of almost every event site at the resort.
A white trellis covered with wisteria and jasmine shades the walkway to the Amphitheater, a dramatic setting for a large ceremony. The couple exchanges vows on a trellised platform, while their guests look on from tiered seating above them. Although there are lots of flowers in surrounding bushes, the trellis can be decorated with more florals for heightened effect.
Reception areas all offer indoor and outdoor options. The largest is the newly renovated Plaza Ballroom, which comes with its own private, enclosed patio. Some couples choose to get married on the patio, but most use it for serving champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Sheltered by a high white arbor, this spacious terrace provides a tropical ambiance with a soothing fountain. It’s protected from the elements by windowed sides that can be rolled up or down. Dining and dancing take place in the ballroom, where adjustable recessed lighting and wall sconces allow you to set the mood.
The circular Terrace Room works well for smaller groups. Most of its “walls” are glass, providing a peek-a-boo view of Newport’s Back Bay, luxuriant foliage and the adjacent Terrace Arbor and pool. The Arbor, a sunken patio lined with plants and flowers and surrounded by greenery can, like the Plaza Ballroom patio, double as a ceremony site as well as a spot for pre-reception mingling.
For intimate weddings the Garden Rooms are an excellent choice. This trio of spaces, housed in an L-shaped building, is interconnected by French doors and can be reserved individually or together. They all share a wall of multipaned windows that overlook a courtyard, alive with wide-branching olive trees, planters filled with blooms, and a medley of other plants. An oversized fire pit makes a cozy niche for conversation, and overhead lamps keep guests warm during cool months.
As you would expect, there are many fantastic photo opportunities on the property, including the fragrant Rose Garden (also popular for ceremonies of up to 50) and the lovely multitiered terracotta fountain.
Guests staying here for the weekend will have plenty to do thanks to three pools, a golf course, and a fitness room—not to mention the ocean and beaches nearby. Here at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach you’ll enjoy the service and comforts of a large hotel in a free-flowing, natural setting.
