Why We Like This Place

Overlooking an eight-and-a-half-mile stretch of white sand, this Mediterranean-style resort is a knockout addition to beachfront properties. The hotel’s lobby is the epitome of casual seaside luxury: The elegance of marble floors and graceful curved staircases coexists quite comfortably with the tropical presence of cascading rock waterfalls, palm trees and lush foliage.

Exchange your vows poolside under the blue sky, in an oceanview ballroom or an intimate outdoor terrace setting. While the bridal party is posing for pictures around the hotel or on the beach, guests enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the spacious foyer of the Waterfront Grand Ballroom. The largest event space at the resort, the Grand Ballroom’s most notable feature is a 14-foot ceiling trimmed with rich, golden crown molding. Suspended from on high, six glowing chandeliers provide romantic mood lighting.

Another reception option is the Pacific Ballroom and adjoining Terrace, located on the hotel’s upper level. The view from the Terrace extends beyond the resort’s pool and beautifully landscaped grounds to the vast ocean. Refreshed by sea breezes, guests enjoy pre-reception mingling and cocktails on the Terrace, accompanied by the sound of the rolling surf. Inside the ballroom floor-to-ceiling windows take in that fabulous view, and contemporary oil paintings in gilded frames depict Catalina Island. A 14-foot-tall alcove with arched black-rimmed windows on all three sides makes a dramatic backdrop for your wedding cake.

A more intimate ballroom, Cielo Mare—Italian for “Heavenly Sea”—treats you to an ocean vista through windows framed by cascading bougainvillea. On one wall an abstract marble sculpture captures the image of rolling waves, and a marble credenza adds to Cielo Mare’s loveliness. At the rear of the room, a trompe l’oeil “sky” with fluffy white clouds on a baby blue background adorns the ceiling. This is the spot most hostesses prefer to set the dance floor, so guests can kick up their heels under an imaginary firmament. French doors open to a private glass-walled Venetian room with a full Pacific view—a delightful spot for the wedding cake, bar, or buffet.

The Waterfront Beach Resort is a four-diamond facility with an abundance of services and amenities. Each of its 290 guestrooms comes with a private oceanview balcony; there are beach activities galore, not to mention on-site tennis and volleyball courts, a swimming pool and a fitness center. With all these inducements, it’s easy to understand why guests coming to the Waterfront Beach Resort for an event are enticed to stay on for a mini-vacation.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: Ceremonies can be held on site depending on the season and availability. Call for details.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Pacific Room holds 180–200 seated, the Cielo Mare Ballroom 150 seated and the Waterfront Grand Ballroom 400 seated guests.

MEETING CAPACITY: Several spaces are available for 12–450 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

For weddings, 30% of your estimated event total is required as a nonrefundable deposit to reserve your date. Luncheons start at $60/person, dinners at $80/person. Cakes and/or cake-cutting costs $7/person. The estimated event balance is due 10 days prior to the function with a guaranteed guest count. Beverages, tax and a 22% service charge are additional. Group rates for overnight wedding guests can be arranged.

For business functions, room rental fees vary depending on the season, room(s) selected and services required; call for more specific information.
