Situated high on a 70-acre plateau overlooking the Saddleback Valley, and mere minutes from John Wayne Airport, the Pacific coast and Orange County’s major attractions, Concordia University’s Good Shepherd Chapel is a truly heavenly place for a wedding—and it’s just one of many indoor and outdoor event sites on this beautifully tended campus.
Your Christian ceremony might begin in the chapel itself, a sunlit space with floor-to-ceiling windows; gleaming, honey-colored wood floors; a low, well-lit stage and altar; and a wood-beamed ceiling. The large stained-glass window lets in additional light, and chapel seating can be moved to accommodate any chair arrangements.
Two charming patios flanking the church feature breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and protected parklands, and the romantically landscaped chapel lawn at the rear of the building is a lovely spot for plighting one’s troth or enjoying the party that follows amid beds of white roses, fragrant jasmine, and towering eucalyptus trees.
If dining and dancing indoors is your preference, take the celebration to the Grimm Hall Conference Center just a short walk away. You and your attendants may want to unwind preand postceremony in the Preus Faculty Lounge, before joining the festivities in the adjacent Conference Center and Terrace. The Hall’s ground-floor lobby and art gallery make a sophisticated entry to the venue. Take the elevator up to the third floor, where you’ll find a generous salon that opens onto a broad covered terrace and more sweeping views. WiFi and AV capability enable relatives to Skype in so that they can participate long distance.
Concordia University’s knowledgeable and experienced conferencing staff and caterers—they partner with Bon Appétit—will ensure that your meal is delectable and the service topnotch. You’ll be able to relax, savor the day, and look radiant when you strike a pose by the fountain, in the garden, or before one of the canyon or mountain panoramas.
Concordia University can easily accommodate events large and small. This is an extremely flexible setting with seemingly infinite possibilities. For example, Concordia’s largest chapel, the Concordia University Center for Worship and Performing Arts, is a magnificent structure that seats up to 400. It offers a professional stage and lighting, amazing acoustics, and both a Steinway concert grand piano and a 3,290-pipe Casavant pipe organ. And how about cocktails or dinner for all the assembled, elegantly served on the long Center Lawn?

20% of the rental fee is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 30 days prior to the event. Rental fees start at $800 and vary depending on the facilities required. Meals range $12–24/person or market prices for seafood/prime cut selections. Tax, alcohol and a 15% service charge are additional.
