Why We Like This Place
The Crowne Plaza is in the perfect spot in Redondo Beach. From here you can walk to the Redondo Pier, Marina or beach, and the calm water and soft sand of the Seaside Lagoon are right across the street. (Depending on the season, the Lagoon beach supports a variety of activities, including swimming, festivals, cookouts and lots of family-friendly fun.)
The lobby’s luxurious, contemporary take on beach style sets the tone for the rest of the hotel. Here, they’ve literally brought the ocean inside: A fantastic 1,500-gallon saltwater aquarium stocked with brilliant angelfish and tangs sits under a high, wide skylight shaded with canvas sails.
Upstairs, the Harbor Terrace is a stunning spot for an outdoor wedding ceremony. This expansive area gives you wide-open views of the sailboats in the marina as well as the Pacific beyond, and on very clear days you can see Catalina Island. A refreshing sea breeze keeps things cool as you exchange vows, with the sparkling ocean as a backdrop. And because you’re so high up, a larger-than-life sunset is practically guaranteed to put on a show.
Reception options abound. Medium-sized events work well in the Seascape Ballroom and the adjacent Coral Foyer. We love the high planked-wood ceiling here, an unusual touch for a hotel ballroom. Large events are held in the Coral Ballroom, which also comes with its own foyer. Since this ballroom divides into three parts, it provides a lot of flexibility. You might use one section for your ceremony and another for your reception, or take over the entire room for a grand celebration.
The completely private mezzanine level is an attractive option for smaller weddings, vow renewals or rehearsal dinners. Serve cocktails in the private foyer, and then move on to dinner and dancing in the Mezzanine Room. Large windows on two sides bring in the water view.
One more thing: Take note of Splash, the California/Mediterranean fine dining—yet casual—restaurant on property. Its sophisticated private room (it has a high black ceiling and fireplace) can be used on its own or with an adjoining patio for your rehearsal dinner or farewell brunch. We also love the fun of the chef’s table in the exhibition kitchen. Have your menu tasting at this table (which is shielded from view of the rest of the restaurant), and you’ll feel like you’re on the set of a cooking show. The staff will help you customize a menu, and they’ll even create specific dishes just for you.
The hotel is designed to offer maximum ocean exposure, so 85% of their up-to-date, stylish guestrooms have water views. Special room packages and suite options give you amenities usually only found in boutique hotels. The on-site European day spa will tempt you with their couple’s treatment room; a full salon for hair, nails and makeup design; and even a package for your entire bridal party. You can also work out those pre-wedding jitters at the Gold’s Gym next door, complimentary to hotel guests.
We know you might soon be jetting off to some tropical island for a romantic getaway (LAX is just seven miles away), but your honeymoon will begin at the Crowne Plaza the moment you say, “I do!”
