Why We Like This Place

A provocative blend of Old World grandeur and Asian simplicity, the Center Club is an exceptional site for a company meeting, party or special celebration. Located on the ground floor of the 21-story Center Tower, and adjacent to Orange County’s Performing Arts Center, the club is bordered on three sides by a lovely Japanese water garden, while inside, each room resonates with a cultured European sensibility.

As you walk through the impressive black double doors into the club’s lobby, you’re awestruck by its beauty. With high coffered ceilings, wood parquet floors and honey-colored pine paneling, the Lobby has a warm, inviting ambiance. Black-and-white portraits of dignitaries and landscape oils by California artists decorate the walls.

The pine paneling extends into the California Dining Room, one of several event areas. With floor-to-ceiling windows running the length of the south wall, the room has a delicate, sunlit quality. More private affairs are held in the Chairman’s Room, which has received notables such as Margaret Thatcher, Toshiki Kaifu (the prime minister of Japan) and Mikhail Baryshnikov. With its graceful chandeliers and dusky blue-and-rose carpet, it has the feeling of a small ballroom. If your event requires more space, double doors open from the Chairman’s Room into the equally well appointed East and West Boardrooms.

Two lovely outdoor sites are available for ceremonies and cocktail parties. The Boardroom Patio, an enclosed courtyard overlooking the west end of the water garden, is often used for smaller events. A statuesque wind sculpture, sensitive to the slightest breeze, adds a whimsical, Calderesque touch. The Garden Court Patio, the more popular of the two, is spacious enough for a large gathering. Birch and willow trees rustle in a gentle breeze while couples recite their vows in front of the water garden, where “Jonah and the Whale” (a Carl Milles sculpture) leaps from the dark stillness of the pool. Behind the garden’s wall, the arresting geometry of the Performing Arts Center provides an intriguing background. Receptions follow in the adjoining Garden Court Room, a sumptuous space with a marble-and-mahogany fireplace and an exotically illustrated Chinese screen that can be positioned to ensure your party’s privacy.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: Both the California Dining Room and Garden Court Patio can accommodate up to 175 seated guests; the Board Rooms East and West or adjoining Patio hold 70 seated.

EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The Garden Court Room holds 150–200 seated or 300 standing guests, the California Dining Room 100–120 seated or 150 standing, the Boardrooms and Chairman’s Room combined, 60–120 seated or 150–175 standing.

Fees & Deposits

A $2,500 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your date. Half of the estimated event total is due 90 days prior to the event; the balance is payable 2 weeks prior. Any menu can be customized: luncheons start at $40/person, dinners at $50/person. Alcohol, tax and a 22% service charge are additional. Facility rental fees range $500–1,400. For ceremonies there is a $500–1,000 charge which includes setup, chairs, runner, rehearsal, and sound system. On Saturdays and Sundays, food and beverage minimums may apply.
