Why We Like This Place

Established in 1969 by a sports equipment executive looking to try something new, Callaway is known for the award-winning wines it’s produced over the decades, as well as its hilltop view—one of the best in the entire Temecula Valley. However, the winery also has a romantic side, earning an excellent reputation for hosting weddings and receptions, too.

The two prime outdoor ceremony sites take in the distant panorama of the San Bernardino, San Gorgonio and Palomar mountain ranges, along with the rocky masses of the nearby coastal mountains. Add to this a gorgeous vineyard vista and you have a stunning wine country backdrop.

Callaway’s most popular reception space is the Barrel Room, the biggest of its kind in the valley. (Brides like the room so much that some of them even elect to hold their ceremony in it.) It’s large and cool, with a high ceiling and hundreds of barrels of fermenting wine along the walls. Bridal parties enter via the steel fermentation room, where candles lighting the way take them past gleaming 3,000-gallon stainless steel tanks and into the Barrel Room. Here, candlelight combines with the glow of ten great chandeliers, creating an amazing ambiance.

The cozy Chardonnay Room is ideal for a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. An additional option for events is the two-tiered terrace beside the winery’s Meritage Restaurant; the upper level is often used for cocktail receptions and the lower for dinners. (Some couples also hold their ceremony here.)

Callaway’s Meritage Restaurant Chef prepares all the food for their weddings and events, using the freshest seasonal ingredients. Each of their wedding packages offers several menu options, making it easy to select one that suits your tastes and budget. A Wedding Coordinator attends to all wedding details, assisting you every step of the way from menu planning and timelines to suggesting vendors.

Evening ceremonies, which are best at Callaway, seem to be the custom up and down the valley. One reason is Temecula’s reliable cool evening breeze, a great finish to the valley’s often-warm days. Another is the frequently spectacular sunsets that locals anticipate and have bragged about for decades.

Brides who get married at Callaway all mention the same things that drew them to it: the relaxed, rustic, country feel … the geography of the surrounding valley and mountains…and the dramatic outdoor setting. Come for a visit and you’ll see why they love this place!
