Why We Like This Place

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could invite your friends and family to a wedding at your own private club—even if you’re not actually a member? At the Calabasas Country Club you can, because the entire clubhouse, inside and out, is yours to enjoy for the duration of your celebration—totally yours.

This picturesque venue in the hills of the west San Fernando Valley has an interesting history and a place in the hearts of classic cinema buffs. Once part of the Warner Ranch Group, it served as a rugged backlot for the production of such notable films as National Velvet, Carousel, Robin Hood, The Good Earth, Giant and Showboat. In honor of that heritage, when the country club was built each of the 18 holes of its verdant golf course was named after one of the famous films. Today, since the club is mainly open for special events in the evening after the golfers have gone home, you and your groom will get top billing in your own “love story” production here.

For your ceremony, your guests are first ushered to an expansive patio, landscaped with islands of roses and magnolia trees. On one side is a shady pergola covered in cascading greenery; on the other is the golf course with the 18th hole in the foreground. You can opt for a cocktail reception outdoors, or take advantage of the Cocktail Lounge/Dining Room in the main building. This upstairs location has a high, peaked ceiling and wraparound picture windows so celebrants can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the newlyweds posing for photogenic shots beside the lovely waterfalls, bridges and old oaks on the golf course below. The bar area is dominated by a curved cherrywood-and-marble bar, while the modern dining area is punctuated with colorful floral paintings. But since the room faces southwest, the best visual show might be the spectacular sunsets over the 130-acre property.

The main reception takes place in the Calabash Room, decorated in deep, rich burgundy and gold tones. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the golf course, and dramatic, angular crystal chandeliers hang from the coffered ceiling, creating a romantic glow over the tables and ample dance floor. An outer Foyer can be used as a kids’ party room, a retreat for quiet conversation or a buf-fet setup. Whether you dine buffet-style or opt for a more formal seated dinner, it should be noted that the executive chef has over 30 years’ experience working coast to coast in a range of venues, from noteworthy bistros to a 5-star resort. Although he special-izes in California cuisine, his dishes reflect many regional and ethnic influences, and he’s happy to accommodate special menu requests.

And because this is a private club—your private club for the night—the large, outside Terrace offers guests not only a quiet retreat for a nightcap, but also one of the few places in Calabasas where you may even see a few meandering deer.

Fees & Deposits

A $2,000 deposit is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 30 days prior to the event based on your contract agreement. Rental fees range $250–5,000 depending on the day of the event and the space rented. Meals range $25–75/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
