Professionalism in the way we understand the clients’ needs, as well as always being prompt with replies and on time for all appointments.

What are the common misconceptions about your services? I think the biggest misconception is that the client just walks in and we make them beautiful. After 16 years of experience I understand that it is about working together to create the best look for the client. Sometimes that takes a couple of different looks and experiments. Just because something works well on one person doesn’t mean it will work on you.

What are some of sources of inspiration or influences on your work? One of the biggest influences for me is the Golden Age of Hollywood. The glamorous Veronica Lake, the stunning Marlene Dietrich. It was a time of such style and grace and it doesn’t seem like it can be repeated. Other influences include some of the great stylists of today like Serge Normant and Harry Josh. I really like their philosophies and styles.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or most interesting moment at a wedding: I think the best part is the look on my clients face when we finish their look. There’s always this incredible smile and almost a blast of positive energy that radiates out. When you spend time with someone and are part of such a special day you really feel a bond with that person and it feels great to help them. I have gained more than just clients; I have gained a lot of great friends.

What’s your favorite marriage advice? You should both always feel that you are giving more than your share to the success of the marriage, and it shouldn’t bother you a bit.

If you weren’t in your current profession, what would you do instead? I really love what I do and can’t see doing anything else. It has everything I really love: the interaction with so many great people, creativity and the fun of being involved with such a happy occasion.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started? I’ve always been creative, and when I started working in the creative field of advertising I was presented with an opportunity to do the hair and makeup for a commercial photo shoot. I always enjoyed doing hair and makeup for my friends but never thought of it as a career until this moment. It was my “Ah ha!” moment.

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day? I enjoy hiking, going up to the beach, listening to some great music, and spending time with my friends at a good dinner.
