After operating a wedding cake and dessert catering company for many years, Amy and Jeremy Berman decided to open up a shop in Santa Monica in 2007. The name, Vanilla Bake Shop, came from Amy’s time in culinary school were she learned that vanilla is the most universally loved flavor. Vanilla Bake Shop wedding cakes and desserts has been featured in magazines such as Los Angeles Weddings, The Knot, Bride and Bloom, Modern Bride and Bon Appetit. The New York Times, Dr. Phil and Martha Stewart have sung the praises of Vanilla Bake Shop. At the 2008 LA Cupcake Challenge, Vanilla Bake Shop’s Red Velvet took first place for “Best Traditional Cupcake.”
