About This Company

We’re not sure how Christine Stieber came up with the name for her company, but it might very well have come from one of her brides, who almost always describe their wedding as just that—The Perfect Day.

The daughter of a party planner, Christine began her own career by organizing conventions across the U.S. Co-workers began asking her to plan their private parties, too—birthdays, picnics, anniversaries—and eventually one of her girlfriends cajoled her into planning her wedding. “I’ve been hooked ever since,” says Christine. “When I meet with a bride, it’s a joy to see her visibly relax as we talk. I know what a difference it can make to be a guest at your own party.”

Brides are amazed at the positive effect Christine has on their state of mind. One claimed with absolute certainty, “I know why I’m so relaxed—I have a wedding coordinator who’s better than Valium!” Christine’s approach to making stress evaporate is simple. “I never want my clients to feel overwhelmed, so I break everything down into short, manageable lists. That way, things get done in the proper order, at the proper pace. My brides get the satisfaction of seeing each checklist completed, and since there’s nothing left to worry about, they’re free to just go about living their lives.”

While organization is one of Christine’s strong suits, she has a lot of other talents that make her, according to one DJ, “the top coordinator out of some 50 I know.” She’s an open-minded listener who takes a great deal of time getting to know the bride and groom: their likes, their dislikes, the things that make them laugh, the things that make them sentimental. She doesn’t try to tell them what their wedding ought to be like; she lets them tell her.

Then she makes it happen. Using her knowledge of the couple, she’s able to suggest just the right vendors—those who care about quality as much as she does. The vendors in turn love working with Christine. “She doesn’t micro-manage us,” says one musician. “She surrounds herself with professionals, and trusts us to do our job.” Another adds, “Christine has an awesome capacity for details, but she also has a knack for making the entire process fun.” Several vendors paid her the ultimate compliment, saying they’d choose her “in a heartbeat” to coordinate their own wedding.

Christine’s imagination is phenomenal, but ideas are worthless without follow through, and she has it in spades. She can make the most extravagant event come off as though it were a simple tea for two (ask her about the famous “Seven Wonders of the World” party she designed). She’ll even put together a detailed itinerary for out-of-town guests, complete with a newsletter outlining their daily activities! Brides are surprised by the extent of her expertise, and often comment, “I never would have thought of all the lovely details you suggested!”

“I like to think I give my couples lots of things: extra time, a calm environment and a way to keep tabs on their budget,” Christine laughs. “But my most important gift to them is the freedom to be present in the moment. My brides and grooms are so relaxed that they actually remember walking down the aisle, saying I do,’ looking at each other—all the little memories that are forgotten when you’re distracted by worry. For me, it’s not enough to help them put their dream together—I have to make it possible for them to enjoy it.”
