While brides love being able to relate to Stephanie like a girlfriend, they appreciate her substantial photographic skills even more.
That Stephanie became an expert shutterbug is not surprising: she had been living a creative life long before she picked up a camera. After getting a degree in Fashion Design and making six wedding dresses, she thought she would pursue a career in fashion. But an interest in photography was sparked when she watched professional photographers taking pictures of her children. Stephanie started snapping shots of friends and family and discovered she was a natural. To learn the tricks of the trade, she apprenticed with several pros, one of whom chose her to shoot his daughter’s wedding. She had a fabulous time doing that job and knew she had found her calling.
“Stephanie is simply delightful, and that’s why her business has skyrocketed,” says that first client, who later hired Stephanie to document her pregnancy. “She’s very imaginative and constantly comes up with new angles and shots that are really cutting-edge,” adds an admiring colleague. One groom, who’s been a wedding videographer for twelve years states, “I have worked with hundreds of different photographers, and out of all of them I chose Stephanie.”
Clients describe Stephanie’s work as “amazing” and “better than I ever thought possible.” One bride was in a bit of a quandary when she got her proofs because “there wasn’t a single bad picture and it’s hard to choose with 1,873 great shots!” As part of her dedication to her art, Stephanie will go to great lengths to get that perfect picture. But somehow she manages to remain unobtrusive. “Stephanie’s working style is just magical,” a former client explains. “She got so many incredible photos—of silly moments or private, touching exchanges—but she was never in my face. Because of this, I have recommended her to several close friends and would recommend her to a hundred more if I ever got the chance.”
Stephanie strives for a natural look in her work, whether she’s taking a “formal” group photo or focusing on the gorgeous details of a wedding dress. However, you can’t really put a label on the kind of images she creates. As one bride commented, “Her style is so unique, many people said they had never seen anything like it before.”
Competent and gracious, Stephanie strives for the best possible shots at every celebration. Yet she tempers this professionalism with a desire to make the process fun for everyone involved; it’s important to her that the brides and grooms feel comfortable in the photographic spotlight. “I want them to be totally relaxed and happy while I do my job, so I do everything in my power to make that happen,” she says. “Ideally, I want each couple I photograph to have an amazing time—and then later, my images should simply highlight the special memories that they already have in their hearts.”
