Julie Pryor’s specialty is planning upscale weddings that are memorable in every respect. “An incredible site, great food, amazing music and breathtaking flowers are all an important part of an unforgettable wedding,” Julie says. “But so are the extra touches that I think make my weddings stand out.”

She provides many services that other coordinators don’t. Julie will often go shopping with brides for their gowns and wedding party presents, helping them with their selections and decisions. “It’s very reassuring to have somebody objective come along with you who’s advising you from experience, not personal motives,” she explains. She’ll even politely call wedding guests who have not RSVP’d to help the bride complete her list. Julie also arranges accommodations and transportation for out-of-town guests, always coming up with great ideas for special welcome baskets.

Julie’s well-honed intuition tells her when to step in and lead and when to sit back and listen. “I make suggestions based on my experience, the couple’s taste and the wedding site, but I never forget that it’s their wedding. My goal is for my clients and their guests to have a wonderful time.” A food and beverage director at a major country club says, “Julie listens well to people and has an amazing knack for transforming her client’s visions into reality.” And even when a couple comes to Julie with no clear picture in mind, it’s not a problem. “I really enjoy helping my clients develop a wedding plan from scratch,” she admits. “We talk, I find out what inspires them, and we play around with ideas. Together, we’re able to create their dream wedding.”

Julie treats each bride as if she were her only client. “If a bride calls me, I return her call the same day. The days leading up to a wedding can be stressful—even the smallest concern often looms large. I know the relief a quick response can bring,” she says. Julie keeps not only the Big Picture in mind, but the small picture, too. It’s second nature to her to plan something thoughtful, like a wedding-morning massage for the bride and her mom. “Julie checks, double-checks and re-checks everything,” a top florist says. “Her patience is legendary.” Because she’s such a perfectionist, Julie works with a group of handpicked vendors who she knows will give 110 percent. The result is very much like a well-practiced team. “Of course, I always match vendors to my clients’ personalities,” Julie adds.

Julie’s “dream weddings” have taken place at a wide range of sites: gardens on country estates, private vineyards, hotel ballrooms, and hilltops in Maui. Whatever the location, her events have, as one vendor puts it, “a very rich, natural look. Julie always gets it just right, never under or over doing it. ‘Sophisticated’ is definitely the word for her.”

It’s obvious that Julie adores her chosen profession. As one associate remarks, “At Julie Pryor’s weddings, it’s hard to tell whose eyes are brighter or happier: the bride’s or Julie’s.”
