What 3 words describe your work? Chic, fun, refreshing.

Why should someone hire you? Our style is best described as East meets West: blending contemporary European and exotic Oriental elegance into floral art and wedding/event design. We provide comprehensive design services, helping our clients to make their event as unique as they are. As we only take limited numbers of weddings each year, we give our brides-to-be all the attention for their special days.

What are the common misconceptions about your services? Many people think we should expand our business and take on more weddings, but instead of we decide to stay small and true to our designs and vision. We really want to focus on one bride and her wedding per week. This is really our way and promise to our brides-to-be: you and your wedding mean a great deal to us.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started? Our mom is a talented florist and a professional floral art instructor with over 25 years of experience and a teacher’s Diploma from the Sogetsu School, one of the top Ikebana schools in Japan. We never thought we would get into the wedding business until we planned and designed Canna’s wedding in 2004. At that time, we couldn’t find a florist who could “Modernize” the east or “Asianize” the west and right away we knew we should be in the business.

What are some of sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
• Our customers: every time they bring in their invitations, cake design, and their stories, we get a new perspective on wedding design and a new way to tell a story.

• Other vendors and venues: we love to work with other creative souls who always have great ideas and tips. We love how the character of each room interacts with the designs.

• Nature: we pay attention to every little detail of life and it really helps us to make things beautiful. Like branches: they are each unique and different shape and lovely in its own form.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be? Bloom all kinds of flowers anytime anywhere. It’s disheartening to tell our brides, “Oh, I am sorry. Peonies are not in season.” If we had that power, we could just make sure their favorite flowers were in any color anytime. Wouldn’t that be nice?

What’s your favorite marriage advice? “Tell your wife that she looks pretty even though if she looks like a truck.” — Ricky, age 10
