Hand over the reins to Lisa Simpson Wedding Celebrations and relax and enjoy the celebration. This peppy New Zealand native has been in the business for nineteen years. Lisa created, launched and coordinated Disney’s Fairytale Wedding program in California, and has planned wedding events for two to 1,200. “At one time, I was handling 600 weddings a year,” laughs Lisa. “I had a staff of ten.” Today, in business for herself, she’s as busy as ever and enjoying the “job” as never before. “If you don’t love it, you can’t do it well,” she confides.
Clearly, Lisa Simpson has a lot more than love on her side. Before going to Disney, she worked in the advertising world, orchestrating product launches and corporate events. But it was wedding planning that captured her heart and these days she focuses all of her experience, energy, diplomacy and attention to detail on her couples’ big day. “When Lisa is there, everything comes together flawlessly,” reports an associate who has known her for years. “She is, in a word, exceptional. Her clients adore her.” “Our wedding was amazing,” recollects a bride. “Lisa had everything under control. I didn’t worry about one thing the whole day!”
Lisa is definitely a dynamo. Not one to sit down on the job, she is a behind-the-scenes presence at every wedding she coordinates—always in motion, circling, making sure things are running smoothly, supportive, but never in the way. Officiants, musicians, photographers, caterers—everyone loves working with her. “She respects the vendors,” says a bandleader who recommends her highly. “ Lisa doesn’t make you feel like there’s a hierarchy. She keeps the balance and professionalism between everyone.” “She’s very hands-on,” contributes another colleague. “Lisa takes the time to know what brides want and to communicate that to all concerned. She has a personality everyone likes.”
She also has the experience to ensure that mistakes rarely happen. Whether she’s coordinating an extravaganza with fireworks on an oceangoing barge, set to go off with the first dance and timed to music playing on the cliffs above, or a very special elopement dinner for two, she brings the full force of her expertise to creating something close to perfection. Destination wedding or garden ceremony, she has the know-how to make them go off without a hitch. She’s always there before the ceremony and she’s the last to leave. Even when she was handling those 600 weddings, she made a point of going by each and every one to check in with the couple. “She was there till the very end,” reports one very satisfied bride. “I felt I had an expert at my side taking care of the details.”
But perhaps Lisa’s exceptional service is best illustrated by the touches that show the incredible understanding and empathy she shares with the newlyweds who entrust her with their celebration. As another bride wistfully recollects, “When we got back to our suite, she had very tastefully decorated it with flowers, petals, candles and some cake. We’d wanted more cake. To this day, I don’t know how she knew that!”
