Background
Jay Kelly explains his philosophy this way:
“Ultimately my objective is to deliver the most beautiful images you’ve always dreamed of—powered by your passion and my love to capture it. My approach to photography stems from one simple concept: pursue the passion and great images will follow. Above all, keep it creative and fun. While shooting, I’m attuned to the emotion of the moment, and the telling of a great story as it unfolds. I’m interested in giving unusual perspectives and paying attention to the finer details that are either taken for granted or overlooked.
When it comes to color, I lean towards a heavily saturated ‘magazine’ style that delivers extremely vivid, high contrast coloration. I’m a staunch believer in using natural light whenever possible. EVERYBODY looks better in natural light so I use flash only when absolutely necessary.”
Jay has received many gold ribbon awards for his photography, including 2007 Best of Category Winner at the WPPI International Photography Convention in Las Vegas. His work is published in The Knot, Modern Bride, San Francisco Magazine as well as the books Digital Wedding Photography and Your Dream Wedding Planner.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production as well as a Masters in Multimedia. He teaches both photography and Photoshop classes regularly at California State University.

Jay Kelly specializes in destination weddings, portraits and commercial photography.
Jay shoots in digital with an assistant; a second photographer is optional. He offers engagement shoots, a slideshow presentation during the reception, high–resolution images on disc, expert Photoshop work, and matted or magazine–style albums. Online photo slideshows allow you to order, share and see versions of your photos in color, black & white or sepia.
