About This Company
Jack Caputo can’t remember a time when he didn’t have a camera close at hand. At eight years old he was photographing his sisters, amazed at being able to capture them in a fleeting moment. By fifteen he was already a professional photographer, shooting inside covers for albums for his record producer uncle. During his college days he focused on black & white documentaries, edited various college publications and distinguished himself as an award-winning proponent of innovative photojournalism.
In 1987 he launched Jack Caputo Photography & Video Production, quickly earning a reputation as a pioneer in event photography. He’s been named “Best Photographer and Videographer in L.A.” by Los Angeles Magazine, and his work has appeared in InStyle Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, Modern Bride, Inside Weddings and People, and been featured on the Family Channel, The Learning Channel, The Lifetime Channel, and Jackie Collins’ “Hollywood.” He’s also been flown to destination weddings in Egypt and Angola, and was hired to cover Prince Charles’ stay during his visit to Los Angeles. So it’s no surprise that his studio is extremely popular. In fact, California Bride named him “photographer most sought out by celebrities for their weddings.”
Stellar credentials like these create demand, so Jack’s team is large. He has a staff of 21 photographers and videographers to handle the more than 300 weddings he books in a year. “I hire photographers based on talent and temperament,” says Jack, who stresses that he looks for team members who mirror the traits he respects and embodies. Professionalism, flexibility, attentiveness, reliability and integrity are key. He then supplies whatever additional training is necessary to make them peak performers. Proud of the wide range of clients he services, from couples just starting out to crown princes, he has assembled a crew that reflects this diversity. They are experts in traditional, documentary, fine art, and photojournalistic styles. “Jack Caputo and company never disappoints,” says a groom. “The photography and videography was one of the best parts of the wedding.” “Their work is exquisite,” agrees an industry colleague who adds, “Jack sets high standards and he’s a lot of fun.”
Part of the fun for Jack is being a frontrunner in event documentation. In 1980 he pioneered the use of documentary photography for weddings and his wedding studio was the first in the United States to offer complete digital video services. Today his company is a leader in digital printing, modifications and conception. The latest technology allows his team to get up-close and personal effortlessly and discreetly, and to process their work very quickly. Ceremony videos are ready to play at the reception, turn-around time on event photos and videos is extremely fast and the work is, by all accounts, amazing. “They were just invisible,” says a bride who gives them a four-star recommendation. “The video and the pictures are just beautiful. I have wonderful memories of the wedding day, thanks to them.”
