Background
During her long and successful career in high tech product marketing, Edith Meyer spent a lot of her free time in the kitchen—catering parties, creating homemade gifts, and, more and more frequently, designing and baking wedding cakes. She finally decided that she’d rather live her life surrounded by food than by software, and founded Edith Meyer Wedding Cakes.
Services
Edith’s designs are as beautiful as they are delicious—she works with each couple to create a unique look that truly captures the essence of the two of them. She’ll spend hours recreating a pattern of lace from a wedding dress, or hand forming hundreds of flowers for a delicate floral design. “I’m an incurable perfectionist,” she laughs ruefully. “I can’t sleep if I know that any detail isn’t exactly right.” She’s happy to create individual cakes for each table or guest, or a special dessert presentation with a multitude of tiny treasures.
Memorable cake flavors include key lime with toasted coconut, stone ground spice cake with applesauce, and others based on the bounty of her own garden. Edith’s Santa Cruz garden overflows with blueberries, strawberries, ollalieberries, raspberries, seven kinds of fruit trees and countless herbs and edible flowers. Other ingredients she uses are organic whenever possible and often come from local farmers. “My cakes are all made from scratch using just a handful of ingredients, so the quality of those items really matters,” she emphasizes. It hardly needs to be said that her cakes are always moist—and never frozen.
As the only certified organic wedding cake designer in the Bay Area, Edith Meyer provides her clients with gorgeous, delicious cakes made from fresh, local, organic ingredients.
