Inspirational by any standards, this team delivers on art, relationship and rapport and gives new meaning to the concept of productive partnership. Both are highly experienced and have won national and international awards for their work. Dean has a degree in Education and teaches fine art photography. Kimberly, whose interest in the medium goes back to her high school days, also works as a studio consultant advising other photographers on methods of organization. “They do beautiful portrait photography and they also excel in the kind of “lifestyle” photography that captures the reality of the day,” states an avid admirer. “Their work is just gorgeous.”
Comfortable with weddings from 20 to 500, Dean and Kimberly are known for the grace and flexibility that come with an easy expertise. Their customer service and cooperative spirit keep Details Photography at the top of folks’ preferred vendors lists. “They honor other people’s wishes, schedules and agendas. Their egos don’t get in the way,” exclaims a wedding consultant who loves working with them. “They treat all of their customers with great kindness and appreciation.”
“I’ve been doing this for a long time,” says Dean. “We do it because it’s fun. We understand how nerve-wracking weddings can be for the bride and groom. For example, we are NEVER late. We want to relieve tension, not cause it.” “Brides tell us we are extremely calming,” Kimberly agrees. “We take great pride in that.”
As the company name implies, this team shares a love of details. Whether they are capturing black & white images, hand-coloring prints or using infrared techniques to frame people and objects in gentle haloes of light, they take the time to ask the bride and groom what is important, and document touches that are special or unique. It might be a grandmother’s pearls, matching bows on the bride and flower girls’ shoes, the surprising catch of a cleverly tossed bouquet or the soft drift of rose petals across hemlines and chairs. Says one exalting bride, “Kimberly captured the vibrancy of the flowers, the stillness of my 87-year-old grandmother, the greenness of the grass, the quiet pride of both fathers, the sparkle of the champagne, the social fluttering of the beaming mother-of-the-bride. Our album holds images of a newly married couple, away from the noisy crowd, taking time to be with each other. It was our happiest day. My husband and I would do it all again, if this time we could come as guests. And, of course, if we could have the same photographer.”
Dean is well aware of the impact their art has on the bride and groom. “I find it a privilege to be asked to record a wedding. Just thinking about it makes me smile.”
“I loved my wedding and my wedding pictures,” adds Kimberly, “but I’d give anything to have had the kind of pictures that we provide for our brides. The best part is when the couple comes in to view their photos. They get quiet. Sometimes they touch one another. I can see from their faces that we’ve exceeded their expectations. That look is indescribable. I’d like to get a picture of that.”
Background
Award-winning photographers Kimberly and Dean have created a studio that focuses on celebrating relationships. Dean has been teaching photography for 20 years and Kimberly is an approved Business Instructor for the Professional Photographers Association (PPA), teaching other photographers how to manage their businesses and how to offer exceptional customer service. Both Kimberly and Dean’s photographic skills have received accolades from their fellow photographers, winning placement in several professional competitions. Details Photography is on the preferred vendor lists of many top-notch event sites including Pacific Edge, Mission Inn, Coyote Hills and Sierra LaVerne Country Clubs, and are recommended by many event planners.
Services
Specializing in photojournalism, Kimberly and Dean’s goal is to capture the essence of the wedding, “so in years to come, when one of our clients looks at their photographs, they will not only remember their wedding, but relive it as well.” Details Photography limits the number of weddings they do each year, so they can offer a high level of personal service to each couple. From beginning to end, they will work closely with you to be assured that the images you receive of your wedding are the ones that you will cherish.
They offer each couple a free engagement session at the location of their choice. At the wedding, they will bring an assistant who will also have a camera and will act as an extra set of eyes. Both Kimberly and Dean want their clients to fully enjoy their celebration, so they photograph requested group photos as quickly as possible. After your wedding, they will guide you through the planning of your album by giving you a multi-media presentation of all your images and a suggested layout of your album design. This album planning session, as with all your interactions with Details Photography, takes place in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
