About This Company
Reviews
“We hired Svenja for her artful eye, unique combinations and overall creative vision. Her work felt personal, not routine. She was perceptive of our personal style. She is like a painter; what she creates for each wedding is brand new and comes from the heart.
“Our guests were in awe of the table decorations, the bouquets, the ceremony flowers. Each one had something outstanding about it that left our guests stunned—and we had a tough crowd of artists, writers, musicians and our own traditional moms.”
“She really listened to my vision, and then reiterated it, to make sure we were on the same page. Then she came up with suggestions of flowers that would be in season and also within my budget. Svenja’s work is very botanical and organic. Very natural.”
“She created dramatic arrangements with organic and local flowers that really complimented our event. She was able to translate my wishes into her floral design. She is an artist with a wonderful sense of flow and space in botanicals.”
“I most definitely felt heard during our meetings. I had some specific requests (being that I am a landscape designer and an avid plantswoman) and she was right there with me. I think what is so special about Svenja is her distinctive, modern aesthetic and her expansive palette. I am so happy that she created the flowers for my wedding day.”
“She is a genius, very caring and calming.”
Background
Maybe you were one of those kids who couldn’t resist amassing collections of leaves, rocks, branches and flowers—Chestnut & Vine designer Svenja Brotz was, too.
That childhood impulse continues to inspire Svenja’s imaginative floral work. She also finds inspiration in the year-round abundance of the Northern California landscape and in her varied training: she apprenticed as a bookbinder then later studied studio art and art history at college. All of these elements somehow make their way into the craftsmanship and creative techniques she developed once she began to study floral design.
Services
Perhaps traditional wedding floral styles aren’t really to your taste. So how do you describe your style? Vintage industrial? Natural and recycled? Modern and architectural?
If you’re looking for a floral designer who will “get” your style, take a look at Chestnut & Vine. Svenja has an eye for interesting texture (moss, bark, etc.) and her designs have a delightful sculptural quality outside of the wedding norm. She has a number of ceremony pieces of her own design, some ingeniously created from repurposed material. (We love her flower stands that use rebar.)
While her orientation is undoubtedly artistic, Svenja is also dedicated to great service and making your wedding flowers stress-free. For example, she thinks about how to create arrangements that can be moved from ceremony site to reception if you wish.
