About This Company
Cakework has been creating amazing wedding and party cakes in the Bay Area since 1986. They have been spotlighted on national and local television as well as in many publications. Unique, creative cake designs range from sophisticated and elegant to wild and dramatic. Cakework’s confections are sought after for being extremely artistic and top of the line in taste.
Background
Cakework began when Cecile Gady’s passion for baking intersected with her background in sculpting. Totally self-taught, Cecile has shaped a creative world filled with impressive, imaginative cake designs that combine refined attention to detail with color, fun and elegance. Considered by many to be one of the finest cake artists and bakers in the U.S., her cakes have become the center of attention at many events all over the country.
Cakework has consistently graced the pages of InStyle, Brides, Elegant Bride, and Modern Bride as well as many wedding books, such as the William Sonoma Wedding Planner. They have also been spotlighted on many local and national television segments such as KRON, KGO, Evening Magazine and was featured on the Today Show in the summer of 2001, when Cecile’s cakes were voted Best Cake in Flavor and Design in the country, and Cakework was invited to create a wedding cake shown on the air.

While Cakework’s cakes have an unquestionably top-of-the-line taste, Cakework is widely recognized for their broad range of sophisticated and finely finished cakes, as well as unusual, whimsical, intricate and dramatic designs, such as the Half Dome cake whipped up for Steve Jobs, tie dyed cakes for Dead Head fans, leopard printed wonders, and their signature white chocolate striped cakes. They are especially noted for hand-sculpted, exquisite white chocolate flowers. Custom designed cakes can be created for any occasion, in any size, shape, color, design or flavor (check out Coconut Mango, Pear Spice, or Peanut Butter.)
Cecile has the technology to reproduce edible images of photos, patterns, logos, etc. onto sheets of delectable white chocolate to simply accent or to wrap your entire cake. Cakework also offers a line of mail order cakes so you can have these elegant treats shipped right to your door!
