Why We Like This Place

One of the most famous pieces of real estate in the world is Pebble Beach, California, the pinnacle of the breathtaking 17 Mile Drive and the site of Pebble Beach Golf Course. Just as many a golfer has dreamed of getting to “play Pebble” at least once in their life, so too have brides dreamed of having their wedding unfold amid Pebble’s picturesque splendor. Woods Hole, a private home on the fourteenth tee of the golf links, can help make that dream come true.

Tucked against a wooded hillside inhabited by deer, squirrels and songbirds, the 5,500-square-foot home is lined with windows that frame a stunning view: a sweep of green fairways and rugged bluffs that give way to the crashing surf and endless horizon. Pelicans and seagulls regularly put on an aerial display, and sometimes dolphins or migrating whales crest the waves. At day’s end, the sky is tinted with the vibrant hues of the setting sun; at night a glittering field of stars lights up the heavens.

The home’s well-appointed living room is one of many comfortable spots from which to savor this dynamic panorama. And you’ll have plenty of time for ocean-gazing, because when you have your wedding here the property is yours for the entire week! Since there’s no pressure to pack up and leave right after the bouquet toss, post-wedding festivities and catching up with out-of-town friends and family can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. (Of course, be sure to put aside some quality alone time with your new spouse!)

Living is easy at Woods Hole. You’ll be tempted to lounge around in the master bedroom, with its adjoining solarium that drinks in the ocean vista. A huge dressing room boasts tons of closet space and mirrors so you and your attendants can primp and prep without getting in each other’s way. The remaining accommodations include a view-filled fireplace suite; a spacious upstairs loft with a wood-burning stove; and a darling garden cottage that can also double as the bride’s room. At the home’s far end, a large fireplace suite opens onto a bricked deck, which makes this a winning entertainment space. Additional amenities include a sauna, outdoor heat lamps, barbecues and a fully equipped kitchen, so you and your guests can make yourselves at home.

Most wedding ceremonies are held in the tranquil backyard garden. Bride and groom say their vows beneath the spreading boughs of an oak tree, while hummingbirds dart among the flowers and the tang of the sea floats in on the breeze. With special approval, small ceremonies may also be staged on a lawn between Woods Hole and the adjacent fairway, with the seascape as the glorious backdrop.

Since receptions can make use of the entire house and garden, get creative with your setup. Try cocktail tables in the solarium and food stations on the deck. Some couples even tent the large parking area at the home’s main entrance.

Just five minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea’s world-renowned shopping and dining, and within easy reach of hiking trails, tide pools and world-class golf, Woods Hole is perfectly situated for a memorable family gathering, destination wedding or romantic honeymoon.

Fees & Deposits

A $2,500 deposit is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 30 days prior to the event. Rental fees range $7,850–9,850 per week. There is a minimum 7-night rental.
