Why We Like This Place
If a wedding in a working winery on a world-famous island with incomparable views of the San Francisco skyline sounds too good to be true, you might want to check this place out for yourself. Take the short trip via the Bay Bridge to The Winery San Francisco, try one of their signature wines, and imagine this 20,000-square-foot waterfront facility as the setting for your very special event.
Built for the 1939–1940 Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island, this dramatic venue, along with everything else on the island, is enjoying a fabulous renaissance. Today, in addition to their limited production of extraordinary wines, The Winery SF is also hosting private parties, fundraisers, corporate galas and, of course, wonderful weddings.
If your heart is set on bay breezes, broad lawns, blue seas and bright skies, you might want to tie the knot at one of four picturesque outdoor ceremony sites—the Marina Vista, Winemakers Lawn, Yerba Buena Vista or Chapel Lawn—that surround this versatile venue. Postcard-quality views of San Francisco, its iconic bridges, and the sparkling bay dotted with boats offer gorgeous backdrops for exchanging vows.
Ceremonies can also be performed and receptions orchestrated on the winery’s expansive Crush Floor, a big blank canvas that can go rustic, romantic, urban or ultra-dynamic, depending on your vision. A lot more than wine blends beautifully in this 5,500-foot space. As your guests arrive, greet them at the winery’s tasting bar—just the spot for everything from pre-ceremony mingling and reunions to that relaxing first glass of bubbly. Then let your celebration unfold in this airy hangar, where handsome oak barrels climb the walls and twinkling lights suspended from the 36-foot ceiling create a star-studded ambiance. Whether you’re sweeping elegantly down the aisle or dining and dancing in high style, this flexible setting will certainly fit the bill.
Staircases at both ends of the winery lead upstairs to a whole new level of festivity. The Napa Valley Room and Napa Valley Tasting Bar overlooking the Crush Floor are ideal for a cocktail reception in a relaxed, gallery-like surround that features shiny ebony-colored wood floors, modern white tufted-leather furniture and pendant lighting on dimmers for just the right mood. There’s a vintage-style bride’s room close at hand, and the Lodi Lounge at the end of the hall can serve as headquarters for the event staff or as a playroom for the kiddies.
Also upstairs, the North Coast Room with its private entrance, large windows and honey-colored wood floors provides yet another ceremony or reception alternative. Fresh and sunlit by day, it shimmers at night with twinkle lights or flickering candles. The adjacent Central Coast Room has a sweet little bar and plenty of space for a small cocktail reception or an intimate after-dinner dance.
Since you seem to have picked both the perfect partner and a great party place, your guests will surely be toasting your super selections with The Winery San Francisco’s award-winning wines.
