Why We Like This Place
Located at the nexus of foodie heaven, premium vineyards and small-town charm, The Westin Verasa Napa is the epitome of relaxed luxury, offering beautiful surroundings and exceptional service. Add in crème de la crème dining created by one of the country’s most prominent—and Michelin-starred—chefs and you’ll elevate your wedding celebration to a sublime experience.
Designed like a rambling, Craftsman-style lodge, the hotel makes generous use of natural rock, pale woods and lots of glass. Its open, airy lobby keeps things low-key and sophisticated with an emphasis on quality materials like slate floors, thick rugs and soft leather sofas arranged near a polished stone fireplace. A four-sided bar in front of a wall of windows is a magnet for mingling, while the outdoor Fireside Plaza and its fountain topped with flames makes a fun setting for an inspired wine & tapas reception.
Each of The Westin’s two ceremony areas has a distinctive flavor. Garden lovers will gravitate to the Oval Lawn, a grassy expanse hugged on three sides by the hotel. You’ll exchange vows beneath a billowing canopy framed by towering palms, while overlooking the lush banks of the Napa River with the Mayacama Mountains in the distance. Enjoy cocktails on the adjacent bocce ball courts before taking a short country stroll along the river to your reception site.
For larger groups, there’s the Solera Courtyard, a spacious plaza next to the Amphora Ballroom. It’s a captivating locale with stone flooring, rock-and-wood pillars, flower-filled ceramic urns and border landscaping that mixes bamboo, red maple and a host of native plants to great effect. This is especially true at the semicircular end of the courtyard, where a curved wall set off by abundant greenery make an ideal backdrop for tying the knot. Savor some chilled bubbly and mouth-watering appetizers under strands of starry twinkle lights before moving inside to one of the reception rooms, each with a wine-related name like Barrique, Cepage, Domaine and Amphora. Muted, neutral tones will appeal to the most discerning brides, as will the coffered ceilings and shirred fabric light fixtures.
But no description of this destination resort would be complete without emphasizing the glorious food that is a highlight of any event here. Under the guidance of Chef Ken Frank, all ingredients are locally sourced and combined to perfection. The presentation is spectacular, but awakening your taste buds is the raison d’être of the menu (which can be completely customized). For the ultimate gourmet affair, book the La Toque Terrace, an intimate private dining room adjoining Frank’s much-lauded restaurant.
In one of literature’s most famous lines of poetry, Omar Khayyam suggested that “A jug of wine, a loaf of bread and thou” is all you need to be happy. But if he were alive today—and planning a wedding—he’d probably add The Westin Verasa Napa to the list. Their gorgeous rooms, friendly staff, gustatory delights and proximity to all the region’s attractions will make you very, very happy indeed.
