Whether you’re a Cal alum who wants to rekindle great college memories, or you’re just looking for a unique wedding location in the East Bay, UC Berkeley offers some truly exceptional event spaces and services.

The iconic Campanile, the soaring clock tower that symbolizes this university, can turn your wedding ceremony into a one-of-a-kind experience. A long brick walkway, which runs down the center of the Campanile Esplanade, is lined with London Plane trees that form a lush canopy overhead during spring and summer. The bride makes her grand entrance down this natural aisle, joining her groom at the base of the Campanile where vows are exchanged as guests look on from their seats in the shade. Afterwards, cocktails are often served at a wide section of the walkway, and as night falls twinkle lights strung in the trees add sparkle to the entire esplanade. If you want to give your guests a real thrill, rent the clock tower itself and invite everyone to ride the elevator to the top for a spectacular panorama of the East Bay as well as San Francisco, the bay and its bridges in the distance.

Another prime spot for al fresco ceremonies is Faculty Glade, an expansive lawn next to the historic Faculty Club. You can say “I do” under a spreading oak or in front of a stone bench, and then pose for photos among the redwoods at nearby Strawberry Creek. The setting is so lovely couples frequently host their reception here, too, at tables set up on the grass. Versatile and easily accessible, this area is equally popular for graduation parties, corporate bashes, outdoor banquets, and picnics.

For indoor celebrations, the Anna Head Alumnae Hall, just off the main campus, will transport you back in time. Formerly a girls’ school, this 1927 brown shingle gem comes with its own patio for mingling, and has an all-wood interior with a high, open-beamed trussed ceiling and a large stage. Although the building has been completely renovated to include plenty of audiovisual aids and adjustable lighting, period details like hand-painted stenciling and the original chandeliers have been retained.

Planning an event at UCB is easy on you, thanks to UC’s Event Services staff. With their “one-stop shopping” approach they’ll handle all the details, from catering and table décor to extra AV equipment and rentals. Hosting your celebration here is easy on your guests, too: This gorgeous campus is close to everything—hotels, public transportation, and lots of local attractions—so friends and family can spend more of their time celebrating with you.

Fees & Deposits

50% of the rental fee is required to reserve your date, and the balance is due 30 days prior to the event. The rental fee range $1,000–3,000 depending on the space(s) rented.
