You’ll feel like you’ve stumbled upon an emerald tucked in between the tawny East Bay hills as you climb toward the lofty perch that is home to the Callippe Preserve Golf Course. A protected habitat for the beautiful California Callippe Silverspot Butterfly as well as the Tiger Salamander and the California Red-legged Frog, this graceful property carpeted in green and dotted with ancient live oaks and young sycamores has all the magic of Oz.

Nothing distracts from the beauty of the setting. The rambling, green and stone-colored California ranch-style clubhouse set on a promontory overlooking the entire Tri-Valley area is designed to enhance the natural ambiance. Most major celebrations take place in the airy Vista Room, which presides over the spectacular golf course and valley panorama. Forty floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides of the hall slide open to allow balmy breezes to drift through. The room’s broad, open-beam ceiling features lantern-style heat lamps that keep it cozy when those breezes cool. A delightful space for cocktails, sit-down dinners, dancing or simply lounging with relaxed guests, it’s bounded by the graceful curve of a low deck and spacious patio. You’ll want to linger here as the well-trained staff serves up a California-style banquet as fresh and exhilarating as the surroundings. Try Tempura Crab Puffs with Mango Teriyaki Sauce; Chicken Breast Stuffed with Prosciutto Ham, Mushrooms, Spinach and Feta Cheese served with Creamy Risotto; Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef with Bourbon Sauce or Sea Bass Fillet served with Homemade Tropical Salsa—all paired with fine local Lodi and Livermore Valley wines.

Twinkling rope lights weave along the edge of the deck to illuminate its contours and the plantings of wild rose and fescue grasses that frame it. The perfect place for a band or quartet, the deck is also an excellent location for a small bar, welcome cocktails or additional seating. The wide patio a couple of steps below has a sweeping northern exposure and is ideal for stunning photos, romantic toasts, a late night waltz or a shimmy under the stars.

After hours the Vista Restaurant is also available for private functions and offers club- and cabaret-style entertainment possibilities. It has a full granite bar, a princely two-sided stone fireplace and a separate lounge area with wrought iron chandeliers, redwood beam accents and saddle-brown leather couches. Your options are as limitless as the vistas. So, let your imagination soar here. The property’s onsite coordinator and experienced banquet staff are adept at customization—and they’re dedicated to making your dreams a reality. They’ll help plan your event and allow you to sit back and enjoy the party at Callippe Preserve Golf Course. There’s nothing like feeling on top of the world.

Fees & Deposits

A $200–1,000 deposit is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 2 weeks prior to the event. Rental fees range $200–1,000 depending on the setup. Meals range $20–40/person. Tax, alcohol and an 18% service charge are additional.
