Why We Like This Place

Clearly, the designers of Summitpointe Golf Course understood the meaning of the expression “photo op.” Nestled in a canyon between rolling East Bay foothills, this Milpitas golf course offers sweeping views in every direction, not to mention an absolutely world-class ceremony site.

Encompassing the far end of the driving range (which is closed whenever events are held) and the huge expanse of lawn beyond, the site adjoins the largest of the course’s three natural lakes. Place an arch at the water’s edge, and the weeping willows that dip towards the lake provide all the decoration necessary. Brides typically make their entrance via limousine, but for more drama, consider making the journey in a horse-drawn carriage. Golf carts are also available to transport any elderly or physically challenged guests.

In spring and summer months, your entire wedding day can be staged outdoors. Following the ceremony, guests amble over to the broad area in the driving range for an al fresco reception. Have rounds set up in the shade of umbrellas, or long banquet tables arranged beneath a large canopy. Either way, your guests will appreciate the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

If you prefer an indoor celebration (or just indoor dancing), Summitpointe’s Lakeview Room will comfortably accommodate most groups. Large windows on two walls reveal views of the hills and lakes. On chilly evenings, a generous mirrored fireplace at one end creates a warmly romantic atmosphere. And guests who need to take a break will enjoy stepping outside onto the roomy brick patio where they can order up their favorite drink from the full-service indoor bar nearby. The patio is also an event site in its own right: It’s covered year-round with a canvas tent, whose clear walls can be rolled up for maximum access to balmy afternoon breezes, or rolled down to provide protection from the elements.

Next to its photogenic setting, this golf club’s most appealing feature may be its affordability. If you long for a wedding at a country club but don’t belong to one, Summitpointe is a wonderful alternative. Their friendly, helpful staff will gladly streamline your to-do list by making arrangements for everything from a champagne fountain to deluxe chair coverings. And with their flexible menu options, you’re sure to find a combination of dishes that perfectly suits you and your budget.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Lakeview Room holds 130 seated; the Lawn holds 300 seated.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Lakeview Room accommodates 130 seated or 200 standing guests; the Lawn area holds 250 seated with tent option and the Lakeview Patio holds 200 seated guests.

MEETING CAPACITY: Event spaces accommodate up to 90 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated event total. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date. Rental fees range $500–1,500 depending on space, day and time rented. Meals range $18–76/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
