Why We Like This Place

Picture a clear, rocky stream running beneath foot bridges, past bushy ferns and flower gardens. Sounds more like a combination of the mountains and a tropical island than Palo Alto, but that’s exactly where it is. At the Sheraton Palo Alto, you have a variety of event spaces, each with its own unique look, from the Spanish-tiled, glass-enclosed courtyard to the ballroom decorated with authentic Chinese antiques. The hotel is located on a commercial boulevard within walking distance of downtown Palo Alto, but because it’s set back off the road and imaginatively landscaped, the Sheraton maintains an air of exclusivity.

A walk through the mostly glass lobby, suffused with light from windows and skylights, takes you to the large rectangular swimming pool area. It’s the perfect spot for a splashy cocktail hour: A brick-paved patio is bordered by trees and gardenias, and at night the pool is illuminated by underwater lights and the trees glow with twinkle lights.

The Reception Room is set in its own wing, and the adjoining lawn is equally suited for ceremonies or stargazing. A semicircular wall encloses the lawn, so only your group can access it. The room itself features two large crystal chandeliers, a dance floor and vaulted ceiling, and fold-out glass doors that open onto the lawn.

Justine’s Ballroom is highlighted by a beautiful glass-enclosed interior courtyard between spacious banquet rooms. It has Spanish tile, white stucco archways, arched mirrors and a glass ceiling. The setting makes a picturesque backdrop for your ceremony, photographs and even the cake cutting. Use the banquet room that opens out onto a streamside patio for cocktails, then spread out into both dining rooms for dinner. Beneath Justine’s Ballroom is the Cypress Ballroom, an imperial room that features deep burgundy custom carpeting and royal white columns inset in the wall. Works of art from China are displayed in softly lit shadow boxes.

With its variety of event spaces, the Sheraton Palo Alto gives you plenty of options, and their creative and experienced staff guarantee to work wonders on your special day.
