Why We Like This Place
You’re sipping an ice-cold beer on a summer’s day and thinking to yourself, “Could life get any better?” How about if you added a group of friends? Now you’ll need some good hearty food to go with that beer, and a place with a convivial atmosphere to eat and drink in. Where can you go to make this daydream come true? The Pyramid Alehouse Brewery and Restaurant in Walnut Creek, of course!
Founded in 1984, Pyramid Breweries was one of the first microbreweries, and though their products are now sold nationwide, they remain committed to producing handcrafted beers and ales made from the finest ingredients. The best way to enjoy a frosty pint of Pyramid Hefeweizen or India Pale Ale is right from the tap at the Pyramid Alehouse in downtown Walnut Creek. Here, design elements such as exposed beams, high ceilings, copper counters and corrugated tin combine in a lively “industrial chic” décor, while stainless steel vats remind you that this is a working brewery.
If you’d like to do more than just sip beer with friends, the Pyramid Alehouse can also accommodate wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and other get-togethers, small or large. The Diablo Room is their most private banquet room. Its rich russet-and-gold painted walls are hung with photos of the brewing process, and pyramid-shaped lights hang from the rough-wood ceiling, casting a soft glow. Equipped with audiovisual equipment, the room works just as well for presenting a slide show or video of the bridal couple as it does for a business meeting. Need more space? Reserve the Cypress Room, which boasts a full view of the brewery as well as booth and table seating. The Diablo and Cypress Rooms can also be combined for even larger events.
But what if you had your heart set on an outdoor celebration? Not to worry—the Beer Garden is available year-round. Shaded by sycamores and enclosed by tall hedges, this pleasant brick-paved patio can be tented and heated during the winter, or set up with tables and umbrellas in sunny weather. They even have misters to keep you cool on a hot afternoon. Best of all, the Beer Garden has its own bar, so your guests won’t have to go far to quaff the Pyramid Alehouse’s delectable brews. The semi-private Sycamore Room, located between the Beer Garden and the main bar, is great for smaller, informal events. You can also use it in combination with the Beer Garden for a larger group. And of course you can rent the entire Brewery and Restaurant if you’re planning a party of up to 300 guests.
The Alehouse’s hearty “Brewhouse Cuisine” is the perfect accompaniment to their various beers, or you can work with the in-house event coordinator to custom-design a menu (the price is very reasonable, especially given the restaurant’s upscale location). Transportation is a breeze, thanks to nearby freeway access, BART, and three parking lots only a quick stroll away. You can even arrange a brewery tour for your party (with plenty of samples)! So the next time you’re planning a get-together with friends—whether informal or “by invitation only,” consider the Pyramid Alehouse Brewery and Restaurant. You’ll always feel at home at the “house that beer built.”
