Why We Like This Place

Grapevines line a narrow private road that winds through gently sloping hills to a graceful hacienda-style clubhouse. Set on a hill, the spacious tile-roofed building overlooks the pristine fairways and greens of the Poppy Ridge Golf Course, one of the Northern California Golf Association’s two premier golf facilities. First opened for play in 1996, the 27-hole course and clubhouse is the sister facility of top-ranked Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach and, like the flower it’s named for, it epitomizes the sunny charm of the Golden State.

Rustic-style double doors open to a peaceful lobby, a perfect ambiance for conjuring up heartfelt messages for the guest book. A few steps further, sunlight cascades through skylights, an appropriate introduction to the airy restaurant that adjoins the far side of the lobby. The high-ceilinged Porter’s Restaurant is a picturesque place for weddings, company parties, tournament banquets and more. It comes with a full walk-up bar, and two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase breathtaking views. The north window boasts a particularly commanding vista of the Chardonnay and Zinfandel courses, as well as a wraparound deck.

In addition to its enviable panorama, the restaurant has also earned high marks from repeat clientele for excellent food: The mouthwatering menus for hors d’oeuvres, sit-down dinners and buffets include tempting entrées that incorporate fresh, local ingredients and are accompanied by zesty sauces. The Executive Chef selects the menu for each event with the upmost care and consideration. Equal attention is paid to the other aspects of your celebration: The site fee—an incredible value—includes an event planner and on-site coordinator, a bartender, and all the props for the right presentation. And, of course, the staff is expert at helping you personalize your occasion and executing every detail.

If you’d prefer to entertain outdoors, reserve one of the building’s wide, sun-splashed terraces with their unobscured backdrops of glistening lakes and lush greens. There’s plenty of room for a ceremony on the inviting East Terrace, set with a beautiful white arbor and chairs for your guests. Crystal and flatware sparkle in the natural light on the partially covered North Terrace, with its Spanish-style tower and sweeping, flower-lined stairway. Whatever the occasion, this is a glorious setting for making merry. Lean out over the balustrade to admire the scenic surround, retire to a shady spot for an appreciative pause, or raise a toast in the archway of the tower. Then, grab colleagues, family and friends for a photo shoot on the property—with such lovely environs, your photographer will have no trouble creating romantic portraits to add to your album of memories.

MEETING CAPACITY: Spaces are available which hold up to 150 guests.

Fees & Deposits

The rental fee is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 14 days prior to the event. Rental fees range $300–3,000 depending on the type of event. Some of the services and amenities included in the rental fee are listed below. Meals range $41–50/person. Tax, alcohol and service charge are additional.
