Located on a bench of land just above Ygnacio Valley and the growing city of Clayton, Oakhurst Country Club sits near the base of Mt. Diablo’s steep and wild eastern rampart.
The vistas from its two event spaces, the west-facing Heritage and Diablo View rooms, are impressive. The larger Heritage Room takes in a sweeping panorama of the Diablo Valley, from Pleasant Hill to the Carquinez Strait. The smaller Diablo View Room scans the vividly chiseled profiles of Mt. Diablo’s precipitous lesser-known side. A wide terrace that zigzags across the clubhouse’s west side connects both rooms from the outside and is a highly popular feature with wedding parties. Besides its unfettered view of distant landscapes, the terrace provides a closer-in look at the club’s azure-watered swimming pool, putting green and golf course.
Because it’s surrounded by a visually arresting landscape, it’s no surprise that Oakhurst hosts many outdoor wedding ceremonies. But exchanging vows outside also gets a boost from the club’s attractive appearance. The clubhouse is fronted by a majestic porte-cochère, whose twin support pillars are clad in large flagstones and whose steeply angled roof rests atop big, bold wooden trusses. Couples often enjoy getting married next to this structure, which provides a dramatic architectural backdrop to the club’s landscaped front.
When celebrants move indoors to the banquet rooms, they pass through an airy window-lined lobby that opens out to a 40-foot-high atrium. Those striking trusses you first see under the porte-cochère continue inside, adding yet another eye-catching element to the clubhouse’s design.
Over the past decade Oakhurst has assembled an unflappable, well-organized, people-oriented staff, and developed a wide range of packages. Naturally, the many brides who’ve enjoyed worry-free weddings here have generated enthusiastic word of mouth about this site. CEREMONY CAPACITY: Indoors, this location seats up to 100 guests; outdoors, up to 150 seated guests.
EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: Indoors, the Diablo View Room seats up to 70 guests with additional open terrace seating for 50. Heritage Room seats up to 170 with a covered terrace that seats up to an aditional 72 guests.
A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the event minimum. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date. Rental fees range $200–1,000 depending on the space reserved and day rented. Wedding packages start at $28/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional. Food and beverage minimums may apply. Menus and packages can be customized to fit your needs and budget. Call for details.
