Why We Like This Place

If it’s true that good food tastes even better when it’s served up with a great view, then eating at McCormick & Kuleto’s is bound to be a delectable experience. This three-tiered restaurant in Ghirardelli Square specializes in impeccably fresh seafood from all over the world. It overlooks the bay—which just happens to be right across the street—and almost every diner has an unobstructed view of Alcatraz, Marin and a variety of historical ships that are docked at Hyde Street Pier.

The interior scenery is also captivating. In the Main Dining Room, fantastic tortoise shell “boat” chandeliers drop from the vaulted ceiling. Wood-and-copper railings flow from tier to tier, defining each level. The Captain’s Room derives its warmth from sumptuous burled redwood paneling throughout and elegant hand-crafted glass lighting fixtures. For larger receptions, this space may be reserved with the Bay View Room and can be used either for cocktails or additional banquet seating. The Dolphin Room, with its modern décor, adjoining patio and views of the bay, is a nice spot for intimate rehearsal dinners and receptions. It features Italian mosaic tiles on the center columns and archways. For smaller receptions or bridal showers, the Alcatraz Room is a more informal space with redwood paneling and pictures of historic ships decorating the walls.

Suffused with sunlight or enhanced by the nighttime glitter of boats docked below, McCormick & Kuleto’s provides a generous helping of visual as well as gastronomic appeal.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The restaurant holds 20–220 seated or 80–270 standing guests in various rooms.

MEETING CAPACITY: Event spaces can accommodate 20–220 seated guests. A buyout is available for larger groups.

A $500–1,000 deposit is due when reservations are made. For weddings, 80% of the estimated event total is due 3 days prior to the event and the balance is payable the day of the event. Any menu can be customized. Catering costs run $40–50/person for luncheons and $60–80/person for dinners. Tax, San Francisco Health Fee and a 22% service charge are additional.
