Why We Like This Place
Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco creates a soothing and sophisticated environment where guests lack for nothing. Borrowing elements from other acclaimed Mandarin Oriental hotels in Hong Kong, Thailand and Paris, this one manages to be both modern and luxurious.
A feeling of calm envelopes guests as they enter the dramatic new Italian travertine marble lobby. From here, a striking grand staircase, outfitted with curved glass and mapa burlwood veneer, leads them up to the main event spaces on the second level. With more than 5,000 square feet of beautifully designed, versatile, and technologically enhanced function rooms, the hotel easily accommodates lavish weddings, business meetings, and private parties.
For a spectacular ceremony, host it on the 40th-floor Sky Deck. At this height you’re presented with a postcard panorama normally only enjoyed by birds: views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower and Alcatraz Island. There are plenty of options for tying the knot indoors, too.
Receptions follow in your choice of two completely different function rooms. The more classic Embassy Room features French-influenced décor, while the recently added California Room has an upscale, contemporary look. Its elegant beige and white palette complements the color scheme of any event, and natural light flowing in through a wall of windows fills the space during the day. Of course, wherever you celebrate in the hotel, their professional planners will ensure that your affair is executed with the uncompromising attention to detail for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned.
Executive Chef Adam Mali and his culinary team, who base much of their cuisine on fresh, local ingredients, are happy to customize your menu. You also have an extensive array of cocktails to choose from, as well as a selection of over 600 wines.
The guest rooms and suites occupy the top 11 floors of this 48-story building (the third tallest in San Francisco), and afford expansive vistas of the bay, both bridges, Alcatraz Island, Marin, the East Bay and the city itself. Two of their signature suites have large terraces, where the newlyweds can enjoy breakfast the next morning. Another recent addition to the hotel is The Spa, an 8,000-square-foot spa and fitness center with a couple’s suite and three treatment rooms. An array of flexible packages allow you to personalize your treatments and enjoy a rejuvenating experience before and after your event.
Although it has plenty of international glamour, Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco offers the personality and attentive service of a boutique hotel. We think it’s a wonderful choice, not only for a special occasion, but for a romantic getaway any time of the year.
