South Lake Tahoe Wedding Venue
2500 Emerald Bay Road
South Lake Tahoe, California 96150
Your family and friends will be thrilled to come to your destination wedding—especially if you pick a compelling location like South Lake Tahoe. This High Sierra resort area, known for its stunning scenery, boasts a range of attractions that will appeal to everyone on your list. And if you host your celebration at Lake Tahoe Golf Course, you’ll be able to enjoy the experience along with them: The venue’s accommodating staff will handle all the details so that you can take a deep breath of alpine air and relax.
The setting here is spectacular. Located on a verdant meadow within a California state park, this 18-hole golf course and clubhouse is spread out beside the Truckee River, offering an intriguing mix of landscaped grounds surrounded by natural woods. The clubhouse, distinguished by a river rock base and steep pitched roof, has the flavor of a mountain lodge with the iconic Mt. Tallac visible behind it.
On the other side of the building lie the manicured greens and far-reaching vistas of the Sierra landscape that form an amazing backdrop for your ceremony. Guests seated on the 10th tee watch you walk down the aisle towards a beautiful tableau: a wrought-iron arch festooned with flowers in front of twin peaks joined together in the distance. And it doesn’t matter what time of year you schedule your wedding—this vista is gorgeous in every season, whether it’s showcasing pale alpine flowers, deep rich greens, a blaze of red and gold, or the shimmer of snowcaps.
There’s no shortage of great spots for photos, and you may want to start by posing on the long wooden bridge that spans the river or at the edge of the boulder-strewn Truckee itself. Meanwhile, your guests can mingle over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Reception Tent adjacent to the clubhouse. Light and airy with a high, peaked ceiling and dropdown chandelier, its windowed canvas walls let everyone drink in the view; in warm weather the walls can be tied back to completely open the tent up to the outdoors. The wraparound Garden Terrace, planted with flowers, makes a nice al fresco alternative for cocktails, with dinner and dancing inside the tent. (Larger groups often party at a more expansive tent on the 10th fairway, with equally terrific views and a clear ceiling for celebrating under the starry night sky.) Either of the tents can also be used in combination with the clubhouse Dining Room.
If the weather is inclement or the couple prefers an indoor wedding, both the ceremony and reception may be held in the Dining Room. It features a cathedral ceiling, exposed wood beams and high dormer windows, as well as its own bar. The glow from forged iron wall sconces gives the space a sense of warmth, while a wall of windows frames the beauty outside.
From start to finish, you’re in good hands here with an on-site wedding planner who will help you choreograph your event, customize your menu, match you with the local vendors who best suit your needs, and do it all within your budget. Plus, they can arrange lodging for your guests and suggest nearby activities from boating on the crystalline lake to gambling and shows at nearby casinos.
