Why We Like This Place

Given its prominence in downtown San Jose (which is, after all, the heart of Silicon Valley) it’s only natural that the Hilton San Jose would embrace the culture of innovation and constant improvement. Their forward-thinking approach is evident in the venue’s recent $11.5 million, top-to-bottom transformation that seamlessly integrates leading-edge technology, eye-catching design and an expansion of its public space…all without losing the kind of hands-on, personal touch that makes you and your event feel special.

Drop off your car with the valet and enter the new classic modern lobby where soft, recessed lighting and wall panels in rich earth colors create a soothing atmosphere. Nearby, a dramatic interior fountain features stainless steel sculptures rising from a pool of water in front of the Affinity Lounge, the hotel’s casually chic restaurant for meeting, greeting and dining on the chef’s inventive European-inspired cuisine.

Just a few steps from the restaurant is the Affinity Patio, an open-air, urban oasis and a great place to start your celebration. Located on the McEnery Convention Center Plaza, this charming spot is shielded from view by an artistically sculpted metal screen. There’s a cascading water wall and movable fire pits set amongst the dark rattan sofas and chairs—a perfect locale for your cocktail reception. While many brides opt to have their ceremony at one of the nearby houses of worship, like St. Joseph’s Cathedral, you can also exchange vows on the Patio (they even have an officiant on staff!).

Afterwards, invite your guests back inside the hotel to the beautifully proportioned Market Room. Ambient light from skylights gracing the three-story vaulted ceiling along with a series of picture windows that look out towards the Patio give you a sense of the outdoors. White glass chandeliers and billowing swags hung from the high, steel beams add a romantic note.

For a completely different ambiance, or if you have a larger group, begin with cocktails at the Winchester Room on the other side of the lobby. You can get more of a city vibe here with hip, lounge-type, retro-cool furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a view of the energetic street scene outside. When you’re ready for dinner and dancing, the spacious Almaden Ballroom is just across the lobby. High ceilings, hanging chandeliers and an optional hardwood dance floor make this an elegant setting for your main reception.

One of the most mesmerizing aspects of the Hilton is the panoramic view you get from the top floors, and there’s no better way to appreciate it than from your exquisite bridal suite. Many hotels offer complimentary honeymoon suites, but this one is extraordinary. This VIP space, with full living room and luxurious bedroom, has curving, wraparound walls of windows that offer 90-degree vistas of downtown’s twinkling lights and recognizable landmarks…a truly fabulous retreat to cap off a memorable night.

CEREMONY CAPACITY & EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Almaden Ballroom holds 200 seated or 400 standing guests. Various other rooms hold 25–150 seated or 30–250 standing. Outdoors, the Affinity Patio holds 100 seated or standing guests.

MEETING CAPACITY: There are 14 meeting rooms which can accommodate 10–190 seated guests, classroom-style.

Fees & Deposits

For weddings, a $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is required when the contract is signed. Half of the anticipated event total is due 3 months in advance, the balance is payable 7 days prior.

There are multiple wedding packages, ranging $80–90/person, which include linen décor package, 1-hour hors d’ oeuvres reception, dinner with wine service on the tables, wedding cake, champagne toast and complimentary bridal suite for one night, breakfast in bed the following morning and shuttle service to the airport. Group discounts are available for out-of-town guests. Also included is a complimentary overnight stay on your 1-year anniversary.
